Is that right to call them dimple kings?? Lets discuss about dimples...

What are dimples?

Some people fall into pit with smile on their cheeks, these are called Dimples. They can occur on different places of the body, including the cheeks, chin, and lower back. Dimples are considered as the symbol of beauty and attractiveness. These dimples enhance the beauty of their face and make their smile look very attractive.

  • It is Common belief that this is an inherited trait that is passed on to the offspring if it is possessed by either mother or father.

However, according to modern science, This Theory Is Not 100% correct.

Different Types of Dimples

Cheek Dimples:

Cheek Dimples are present on both the cheeks or only on one cheek and become prominent while smiling or talking.

Chin Dimple:

Chin dimples are singular and present on the chin. The signature dimple of cleft chins forms before birth. This happens when the two sides of the lower jaw don’t completely fuse together during fetal development. Aside from the dimple, this doesn’t cause any other symptoms.

Lower Back Dimples:

These are present on either side of the spine, over the lower back. In the medical community they are also referred to as sacral dimples, owing to their anatomical position where the sacroiliac joint is located.

  • Around 20-30% of the world’s population has dimples, which makes them quite rare.

What causes dimples?

  • These dimples are actually the manipulation of our facial muscles, and you will be surprised to know that these dimple on the cheeks are actually caused by a muscle disorder. In fact, our facial muscles have zygomatic majors, which are very large in size. These muscles help us smile. It’s the one that helps to raise the corners of your mouth when you smile. But sometimes these muscles are broken or weakened at birth due to genetic disorder.

  • When people with this order smile, their muscles are pulled up and down and a gap is created in the middle which appears as a dimple on the face. Apparently muscle breakdowns make our faces and smiles so beautiful.

  • In people without dimples, the zygomaticus major muscle usually begins at a bone in your cheek called the zygomatic bone. It then runs downward, connecting to the corner of your mouth.

In people with dimples, the zygomaticus major may divide into two separate bundles of muscle on its way down to the mouth. One bundle connects at the corner of the mouth. The other bundle connects below the corner of the mouth and is also tethered to the skin above it.

This split in the muscle can be referred to as a double or bifid zygomaticus major muscle. Movement of the skin over the double zygomaticus major muscle when you smile causes the dimple to form.

Because cheek dimples can result from a muscular variation that occurs during fetal development, they’re sometimes mistakenly referred to as a birth defect.

What if you want cheek dimples?

Do you want cheek dimples even though you don’t have them? There’s now a type of plastic surgery available that creates cheek dimples. It’s called a dimple plasty.

During dimple plasty, a small incision is made at the site where the dimple will be. Then, a small amount of tissue is carefully removed. A small stitch, called a sling, is passed through the skin and muscle on either side of the area. This brings the skin and muscle together and creates the dimple.

  • If you’re interested in this procedure, set up an appointment with a plastic surgeon to talk about the benefits and risks.

And yes, as you go along, learn that this muscle disorder does not cause any further complications or illnesses. Once this order occurs, it becomes part of our body, so there is no need to worry about getting dimples. This disease is not dangerous and does not cause any significant harm.

This is my first article. I've worked hard on it and I hope you like it.
