JAMB UTME Experience by Abiodun John
I sat for the JAMB UTME on 9th of May at 7 am. My center was Malicomp computers at Ifako Ijaye. I got there by 6:45. I tried to enter with my face cap on (I forgot it was still on my head), but was stopped at the entrance and instructed to remove the cap before entering. When I entered the compound, a woman in a security uniform used metal detector to scan me before she allowed me enter the holding room. I saw a lot of candidates on a queue waiting for their turn to go through the biometric verification process. I joined joined behind the last person on the queue. As i was in line there was a man who wanted to do his own, when he was told to remove his face mask, the man doing the biometrics just shouted 'femi long time no see, no worry ajeh you go pass, abi we go see next year?' omo people just dey burst laugh.
I think at 7:10, the invigilators started arranging us in order to enter the exam room, We were instructed to enter the exam hall in sets (50 each) according to our seat number i.e 001-050, 051-100, 100-150, and so on. The exam hall was spacious and conducive. We were told not to touch anything that they would tell us when to start. One of the invigilators came in to tell us that they have about 12-13 CCTV cameras in the room so we should better behave ourselves, another one came in and said that if we make noise that she would tear our.... she paused, that was when her brain was able to process that it is a CBT exam not a paper exam. someone on my line then whispered that is it the computer or the mouse the woman wan tear...they sha delayed the hell out of us, some candidates' keyboard were faulty and replaced before the exam commenced.
We started around few minutes to 8. Those who sat for the exam.the previous day complained about incomplete questions but ours were intact, no error. There were no other technical difficulties apart from some faulty keyboards (mine was ok).
I forgot to mention that somehow one girl wanted to sneak her phone but was caught even before she did her biometrics, they sha forgave her because she haven't started the exam. well the place was environmental friendly and conducive.
