An old man was lying on the sidewalk near the wall of a building. He was looking like a hobo and most of the people simply passed by him. They didn't care about the old man. And some people looked at him in disgust. It seemed that they were disturbed with the hobos in the city. Some said that this was horrible to lay on the street and the hobo had no shame.
Only one young woman noticed this man carefully. She noticed that he wasn't just a sleeping vagrant. She at once stopped her journey and sat near the man. She checked him and soon she saw some symptoms of heart attack. She made him sit and searched for her phone. She called the ambulance instantly. She told them that it was an emergency and told them everything in short.
The ambulance came shortly and she went to the hospital with him. The doctor asked her if she was his family member. She replied that she even didn't know him. But in that situation she couldn't leave him alone. The man needed better treatment and so he was shifted in another hospital. They had to hurry and get to the hospital as fast as possible because every second was valuable.
After some treatments, he soon came to his sense. When he opened his eyes, the girl was right by his side. Seeing the man wake up she became happy and told him that he had already scared everybody. She thanked Almighty for his recovery. Then she told him what had happened to him. And the old man could understand that this young lady had saved his life.
After he was discharged and was about to go home, he gave her a gift. He was a painter and he presented his best painting to the girl. He wanted to thank her in this way. She was much happy and glad. She praised the painting.
One year passed since that day and the lady life was not going good. In fact, it was a difficult period in her life. She and her husband could not put up with each other. Her husband told her that they should part their ways. And so they did and got divorced. The husband kicked her from the apartment and so she had to rent a small apartment.
She did a small job. But it was not enough to things everything together. The apartment was big enough to set her alone. But she barely had enough money to buy foods. She was desperate and felt horrible while counting every cent. She had to plan how she would run this month and what she would do with every cent. She had never imagined that she would have to live like that and so she had not much savings. In fact, she was having hard time.
But things changed one day when one of her friends came over to her place. They sat in the living room and was having cup of tea. They mostly talked about how she would go through this. The friend assured her that she was sure that she would be doing good soon. She also said that they would come up with everything together.
And suddenly she was shocked watching that painting on the wall. She could not believer her eyes and asked the woman where she had got that. She didn't wait for her friend's reply. She walked to the painting and said that was painted by a renowned artist. The woman became surprised at her friend's behavior. Her friend said that the painting was so valuable that it was worth a fortune.
It turned out to be true. The woman bought a new house with the money she got when she sold the painting. She always remembered the gift which she considered as the best gift in her life. It seemed that the painting was ordinary, but it turned out to be a really valuable work of art. Everyday she had remembered the elderly gentleman who had saved her life for saving his life. She always be pleased whenever she thought about that old man.
The woman showed kindness to the old man when everyone was ignoring him. And finally she got the best gift in her life as the present of thanks from the old man. So, the kindness you show to others, will be rewarded manifold.
