Be sure, people are not using you!
Jane was 10 when her parents told her that her sister was adopted. Her father was a priest and one day, someone left a baby in front of his church. He took the baby in his lap and adopted it. He told Jane that they had to do everything to make sure she felt she belonged to their family.
Since then, they always pitied the adopted girl. And they did everything she wanted. Even sometimes they did more for her than Jane. In fact, it was a common picture that Jane's favorite things were taken away by the girl. She mentally blackmailed everyone from that very little age.
When Jane's father was dying, he extracted a promise from her. He asked her to swear she would always take care of her sister. Jane was so kind-hearted and she promised her father.
After this many years passed and Jane got married to a rich person. Her sister had her own job and was settled. But a few years ago, her sister got very ill. She had her savings but Jane's husband agreed to pay for the treatment.
It took a month to recover. But after having recovered her sister didn't hurry to look for work. She only sat on the TV and ate. If Jane asked her to get her job back, she blamed her as heartless. She showed excuses that she was very weak.
Her sister demanded more and more and so Jane had to limit the expenses of her family to help her sister. But she could not cope with it. Her husband gave her money to buy food but many times the fridge was quite empty. He saw it and questioned her. Jane replied that she was sorry but her sister asked her for help. He could understand everything and said that her sister had recovered a long time ago; she was simply using her. He also told her that from that day on, he forbade her from helping her financially.
When Jane told her sister that she could not help her more, she made a scene. She asked Jane if she called herself generous. She also said that she treated her that way because she was adopted. Jane tried to do as her husband said, but at that moment, she remembered the promise she made to her father many years ago.
So, she decided to fool her husband to get money. She said to him, "Darling, I'm so tired! Can we hire a housekeeper?" Her husband was rather happy to hear this because he wanted her to feel good.
But for a long time, Jane cleaned the house herself, washed clothes and dishes, and cooked for the family. But she took money from her husband as the housekeeper's salary. Then she gave that money to her sister.
Days were going like this until Jane learned she was pregnant. Yet she continued working herslef. But with time, it got more difficult for her to clean the house. She was so tired and was not able to bear one more day like that. She told her sister everything, but she asked her if she had thought of her. Then she told Jane not to be so cruel.
Jane kept quiet at this time too. But when the husband wanted to meet the housekeeper, for the exhausted Jane, it was the last straw. She was so stressed that she went into early labor. Jane got to the hospital and only a miracle saved her and her daughter's life.
She was feeding her baby when her sister called her. She told Jane that she was so selfish. She said that she was looking for an actress, and she was just relaxing in the hospital. At that moment, Jane realized that her sister was just using her all that time. For the first time, she spoke up, "That's enough! You're selfish, not me! You're used to everyone indulging you, but that will stop!" And she ended the call.
Jane understood her mistake. She decided to tell her husband the whole truth. She promised him that she would not do it anymore. The husband was not angry with her and forgave his kind-hearted wife immediately.
Don't take advantages of a kind heart. You may never be offered one again.
