One day the manager of an orphanage just arrived at his office and the clerk informed him that a young couple was waiting for him. He became happy as he knew that someone was going to had a family that day.
He entered his office room and saw the couple sitting. They told him that they two wanted to adopt a child. The manager asked them not to worry and do all the paper works. He assured that they would chose a awesome child for them. Ben said that they had no idea whom to adopt and so they were relying on the orphanage for this.
Suddenly a young boy with white stick and black glasses stood on the door step and politely asked to in. Ben and Jane became sad to see the blind boy. But the manager became a bit irritated as he was having an important meeting. The boy told him that he had asked him to come when his classes ended. The manager told the boy, Ethan to wait outside and forbade to bother them. The boy did so.
Ben and Jane felt sorry for the boy's condition. Jane asked the manager what happened to that boy. He said that it was a pathetic story. When Ethan was born the doctor said that the blindness was incurable and he would never be able to see. His mother was shocked and started to cry. She had feelings for her son. But it was her husband who didn't feel for his child. He wanted a heathy heir and so he decided that they didn't want a child like him. He ordered that this child should be taken to the orphanage. His mother cried only as she could do nothing against the father.
Hearing Ethan's story Jane started crying. Ben also became sad. And this time they made their decision. Ben told the manager that that time they knew who they wanted to adopt. He clearly said that they wanted Ethan to be their son. The manager was happy and admired the couple. But he also offered them healthy child. But Ben and Jane already set their mind.
Then he asked them why they would need a blind child. He added that he was a burden. This words made them furious and Jane stand up at once. To his utter surprise the manager saw that Jane couldn't walk alone. She needed stretcher. She burst into anger and asked him if he had no shame and seriously he said about burden. She asked him that if he thought Jane a burden too. The manager could answer nothing and Jane told her story to him.
Jane's mother had a complicated pregnancy. She always felt unwell. But it was her strength that her Jane's father was always by her side. When she born, the doctor found out that she was born with a limp. The doctor said her parents that their daughter would never be able to walk well. Her mother couldn't believe this and she felt very sad.
But as the time passes Jane's mother lost her feeling for her. She felt ashamed of her daughter. If someone asked about Jane she always lied and told them that she was not at home. But Jane listened everything from the door side. In the school she was also bullied. She lost her faith in humanity. And cried all her nights. She thought that no one would love her as no one need a disabled girl like her.
But then Jane met Ben. He fell in love with her and soon proposed her too. He asked for Jane's consent and told her that he would make her the happiest woman ever. And yes he did so. But they were not blessed with child and so they decided to adopt. Before entering the orphanage she asked her husband if he was sure about that. He replied with confidence that together with Jane he could do anything and then they entered.
She suggested the manager to keep in mind that no one deserves to be called a burden. He felt really sorry and could realized his mistake. Ben said that they had made their minds and Ethan was going home that day where he would be accepted and loved the way he was.
When Ethan was at his new home he asked his new mom and dad why they had chosen him. He also thought himself to be a burden. Jane replied him with affection that he was no so because he was destiny's gift for them. She and Ben welcomed him at his new home.
Appearance and physical features never define a person, rather the heart does. A person is only defective when he has a dark soul and an evil heart.
