His first book of poetry, Firstborn, was published in 1986. Soon after, he became one of the most important poets in contemporary American literature.

So far he has published 12 books of poetry and a few books on poetry. The books of poetry are: Firstborn (1968), The House on Marshland (1975), The Garden (1976), Descending Figure (1980), The Triumph of Achilles (1985), Arrard (1990), The Wild Irish (1992), The First Four Books of Poems (1995), Midlands (1996), Vita Nova (1999), The Seven Ages (2001), October (2004), Avarno (2006), A Village Life (2009), Poems 1962-2012 (2012) ) And Faithful and Virtual Night (2014).
Earlier, after the Nobel Prize in Literature was postponed in 2018 over a sexual harassment incident, the two-year prize was announced together last year. However, the Nobel Committee was again criticized for declaring Peter Handke the winner in 2019. The Austrian writer denies the atrocities committed by Serb forces in the Bosnian war and condemns the Nobel Committee's decision in various quarters for being a supporter of former Serbian President Slobodan Milosovic, who is accused of war crimes.
So there has been a lot of speculation for a long time about who will win the Nobel Prize in Literature this year. Lewis Glick finally put an end to it.
