Everything changes over time. We used to use Windows XP, then Windows 7, then Windows 7, 8.1 and now Windows 10. Although Windows 10 Auto Updates can be easily turned off in earlier versions of Windows 10, disabling Windows 10 updates is a bit more complicated.

The amount of data that Windows 10 consumes cannot be overstated. It's wise to keep Windows 10 updates off without a single Unlimited Internet Data Pack. With a few simple steps you can stop this elephant from saving your internet data. So let's not know how to disable Windows 10 update.

Disable Windows Update Service

To disable Windows Update Service, go to run and enter services.msc and press OK.

Then scroll down to the window that appears, find the Windows Update option from the bottom and right click on it to stop (if not stopped). Then double click.

After double-clicking on the Windows Update option, another new window will open. From the General tab, select Disable from the Startup Type option.

Then click on the Recovery tab and select Take No Action instead of Restart the services in the First failure option. In the case of Second failure and Subsequent failures, the Take No Action option is already selected. So there is no need to change them. Apply now and ok

Turn on Metered Connection

First of all, it should be noted that the "Metered Connection on" dial-up connection does not apply to disabling Windows 10 updates or to prevent Internet data consumption. This only applies to WiFi or Ethernet connections.

To turn on Metered Connection, first enter Settings from Windows Start Options.

Now from the new window that appears, click on the Network & Internet option. If you use Wifi, enter your WiFi connection from that Wi-Fi option and turn on Metered Connection. And if there is an Ethernet connection, then enter your Ethernet connection from the Ethernet option and turn on the Metered Connection.

Disable Windows App from Task Scheduler

If you go to the search option of Windows and type Task Scheduler and search, Task Scheduler will come out.

From the left option of Task Scheduler enter Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Windows Update

Clicking on WindowsUpdate in the Task Scheduler option will look like above. From here, right click on Automatic App Update and sih and select Disable, disable these two options. Once disabled, cut out the task scheduler.

Configure Automatic Updates Disabled

To disable Configure Automatic Updates, run gpedit.msc and press Enter or click ok, but if your Windows is Windows 10 Home, you will not find this setting in your Windows.

If you enter gpedit.msc from the run and enter, a window named Local Group Policy Editor will open. From the menu on the left, go to Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates> Windows Components> Windows Update.

Clicking on the Windows Update option will bring up a list of several options on the right. From there double click on Configure Automatic Updates.

Double-clicking Configure Automatic Updates will open another new window. From there, click on the Disabled radio button. Then click on Apply and come out with Ok.

If you follow the above rules, I hope you will not lose any additional data on your PC. The above rules are enough to disable your Windows 10 update.

You can also look at the Resource Monitor to monitor which apps or programs are consuming extra data. Not only does it show that if you think that a program or app is consuming your internet data which is not desirable to you, you can also turn it off.

To view the Resource Monitor, go to the search option of Windows and type Resource Monitor and if you search, the Resource Monitor will come out, then click on the Network tab of the Resource Monitor. Here you can see how much of your program is consuming your internet data.

If an unwanted program consumes extra data, you can close it by right-clicking on that program and clicking End Process. You can pin the Resource Monitor to the taskbar for your convenience.
