Glass node, a data aggregator in the crypto market released data showing that Bitcoin's realized capitalization has seen more than 50% increase since 2017 when the cryptocurrency hit an all-time high of $20,000. Bitcoin's realized cap is currently at $115 billion. This value is $43 billion more than it's all-time-high in 2017.

The realized capitalization metric measures the value of each BTC when it was last moved on-chain. This metric allows analysts to estimate the aggregate cost-basis of participants on the crypto market. This metric does not include currencies on centralized exchanges.

According to data from Coinmetric, Bitcoin's realized capitalization continued to grow higher in the early quarter of 2018, testing the $90 billion mark three times between January and May.

Speculations about Bitcoin halving pushed the cryptocurrency's realized cap by 6% in the second quarter of 2020, but was pushed back by a violent "Black Thursday" event. However, since May, Bitcoin's realized cap has been moving upwards steadily. According to data from crypto researchers IntoTheBlock, more than 72% of crypto addresses are profitable currently.
