Jordi Alba is now 31 years of age. Since 2017, a lack of competition and some decent performances have conveniently earned him a starter position at our club. However, I believe it is time to clean up.
Firstly, let me make this clear: Alba has been of great service to our club. He has played for us for the better part of his career and has been instrumental on multiple occasions. Alba was never known for his defending prowess. He was amongst the fastest players during his peak in the world and it was his pace that helped him defend. More importantly, he was an absolute asset offensively. This ensured the team got a positive net result out of him despite his obvious weaknesses while defending. Not the case now. His time is up. In fact, it has been the case for sometime now. Lacklustre performances coupled with an unintelligent football brain does not sit well for a player in his 30s, even more so if the player is employed on the wing. For a fullback, we can do much better than Jordi Alba.
Alas, I do not trust this club under this board to make the changes that are needed. The "revolucion" is nothing but a good looking punch line for the press.
