No fewer than fourteen politicians have died in a fatal road accident along Gusau – Zaria road while some politicians were allegedly rushing to meet up with the state Governor’s convoy.
The accident which occurred on Wednesday saw three vehicles colliding with a BUA cement trailer.
It was gathered that fourteen of the politicians died on the spot, while several politicians sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the incident, saying that those who sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital and responding fine to treatment.
However, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has condoled the families of all the deceased persons who lost their lives in the accident.
The Governor ordered a three-day mourning in honour of the departed souls, saying that all flags should fly at half-mast.

The deceased have since been accorded befitting burials attended by hundreds of people.
It could be recalled that some politicians in the state had gone to receive the Governor at the border between Zamfara and Katsina States where the three vehicles collided with BUA cement trailer along Gusau- Zaria road.
