Tears roll down my eyes as I write! Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Anthony Enahoro are you able to rest in peace? On October 1st 2020, Nigeria our dear country will celebrate and mark a Diamond Jubilee (60 years) Anniversary of her independence yet no sign of light, no hope for good roads, over a half population of people living in Nigeria live below an average income of one dollar ($1) a day. A country richly blessed in mineral oil and gas, gold, coal and all manner of natural resources!
Over 60years now since late Anthony Enahoro moved the motion for independence in Nigeria and in less than 60days time the great people of our country will in one accord celebrate the independence that was gained on October 1st, 1960. So much blood has been shed, many beheaded, several lives have been lost and many properties destroyed for the course and more yet there's no sign of effectiveness. How come a country with an estimated 200million people, so much revenue and lots of natural resources cannot create jobs? A lot of graduates are unemployed, there's no enough learning facilities and good infrastructure! Who is to be blamed?
It seems our great heroes have fought a worthless battle, many died unjust and yet as it is evident, our politicians and leaders continue to loot National treasuries, they take our money abroad to develop other people's country while our people continue to struggle and live in abject poverty. They make promises they never fulfill, seems they even take foreign loans and share the money among themselves, they squander money meant for the people of the country and live extravagantly. Take a look at the NDDC saga, The EFFC saga and as matter of fact many stones are yet unturned. Who will be our saviour? Our people live in fear of their lives, not given freedom of speech! Is this really Democracy or An Autocracy?
