Greetings to you my good family of Christians. I hope you will enjoy this article on Joshua leadership and be blessed by it. Read and Grow!
Joshua emerged as a leader of outstanding bravery and courage in the spy mission. He risked his life to face the truth, inspite of the majority report to the contrary.
There are important lessons here for the church leaders in particular and christians in general. We must learn to demonstrate faith in God, and courage, in the face of odds, just as Joshua did. We must also learn to speak or teach truth as contained in the Bible, no matter what.
The significance of Joshua's succeeding Moses
God himself chose Joshua as a leader because of certain attributes and qualities that he possessed. Joshua had demonstrated faith in God, and courage, after the mission of the twelve spies. In addition, Joshua had the Holy Spirit in him, and so he could lead in the forthrightness. The lesson is that all the leaders, both Church leaders and those in political offices, should consider themselves as appointed by God, just as Joshua was appointed by God to succeed Moses (divine succession). Hence, they should have the spirit of God in them so they can lead in forthrightness . They must learn to speak the truth and to stand by the truth at all times.
There was a smooth and orderly divine transition of power from Moses to Joshua. This shows that leadership is a continuous process. That being the case, there should always be a smooth and orderly transition of power in all leadership positions in the society. In particular, our political leaders must learn to hand over power smoothly and orderly to the incoming leaders and not to stay put, derail the transition process.
The significance of Joshua's takeover as the Leader of the Israelites
The significance of Joshua's takeover from Moses lies in the advice which God gives him in order to make him succeed as a good leader. A good leader must obey the law, because it is an expression of God's will. The secret is that obedience to God's will leads to success both for the leaders and that nation. Hence, our present leaders and the leader of tomorrow must learn to do God's will in order to succeed as a good leader.
God also advised Joshua to have faith and courage in order to encourage his success. We must also learn to demonstrate faith and courage in in our lives so as to succeed as leaders now and in the future.
Joshua eventually succeeded as a leader of the Israelites. This was because he did not reject the good advice given to him by God. He listened to good advice, followed it and succeeded. The lesson is that we are not to reject good advice because we may not benefit from it, or that it may run contrary to our selfish interest. We must listen to good advice and practicalize it so that our people will benefit from it, and always remember us as good leaders.
Having read all these, do you see some lessons to learn? Has something being added to your leadership capacity/skill? Have you improved on your influencial mannerism? With God on our side, we are directed and shown the path to follow in order to lead people right. Don't let any one mock you that because you don't have an authoritative positive then you are not a leader. That's a big lie. We are all leaders, whether in school , work or at home. We all have responsibilities and hence we become leaders. Ask God for mercy and he will lead you aright!
You're blessed. Shalom!
Leadership is living a life of example which is far fetched from our society today
