Our well-being is reflected in our body. We can check this with a quick test - when we are angry, we breathe fast; when we are scared, we ‘climb inside’, we shrink. This connection goes much deeper and is reflected in the heart, kidneys, liver ...

A mysterious connection between emotions and organs

Blood vessels, lymphatic and nervous systems and the system of energy meridians intertwine with each other and communicate and connect even the most distant parts of our body. This is most easily imagined when we think of reflexology, which puts pressure on certain points on the feet and thus affects distant organs and strengthens health.

Despite great advances in diagnostics, measuring instruments and science cannot clarify the connection between the pressure of a skilled therapist's toes and the results - e.g. better liver or stomach function. The problem is ignorance of one of the main elements that determines health - human energy.

Emotions are energy

Energy is also reflected in emotions, among other things. Emotions are our specific relationship to ourselves, to other people, objects, phenomena, or states in which we find ourselves. We experience them as an integral, inseparable part of ourselves. While we identify with it, we often become that emotion. For a person we often see in a feeling of anger, we will say that he is angry because we have such experiences with him, but if we are that person, we will have the feeling that we are angry because something made us angry.

But the more often we get angry, the easier it is to make us angry. Why? Does this mean that all emotions accumulate in our body and it is easier to derail us every time? Where do they accumulate? Traditional Chinese medicine explains the connection between emotions and the functioning of our organs. An emotion is an energy event that causes an increase in energy in a particular part of the body, depending on what kind of energy it is.

Excessive or repressed emotions upset the balance that disrupts the body’s functioning. Emotions alone do not mean an imbalance in the body. However, they can be excessive or we do not experience them due to some traumatic event (we suppress them) and this leads to a disturbed balance. Happiness and prosperity e.g. they represent a positive emotion until it is excessive and turns into excitement, which can lead to a faster heartbeat, high blood pressure, and consequently (very caricatured) cause cardiac arrest. Both positive and negative emotions are still emotions, only control is needed - so that there is no excess of both one state (positive, eg happiness) and another (negative, eg feeling unhappy and sad). In Chinese medicine, nothing is just white or black, everything has to be viewed from the standpoint of constant mutual cooperation. Fear is not necessarily a negative emotion, as a certain amount of fear is needed to protect ourselves from dangerous circumstances. It is important to manage emotions so that deviations do not occur and that when they do, we do not indulge in a particular emotion (both positive and negative) for too long, as this can lead to imbalance and consequently to disease of a particular organ.

A common misconception is that the balance into which various spiritual practices try to bring us is something boring, monotonous, and that it causes numbness. A state of balance is actually the absence of negative emotions, which of course cannot be achieved at all times, but awareness of the harmfulness of accumulating these emotions will help us to get rid of them more easily. Being in balance means being happy and content without external stimulus, and our mind and spirit become creative because they are not concerned with themselves. The more awareness grows, the easier it will be to avoid creating such emotions. And that, of course, is not the same as pushing emotions.

To tame negative emotions, we just need to find the right method - we need to be as happy and happy as possible, because it will be difficult to get angry if we look at life from a happy side.

And how to find the right method? Each of us knows best what makes him happy and how to achieve a blissful state. To manage stress and anger, not to become chronic, everyday, be happy. Sing, dance, travel, walk in the mountains or. do what makes you happy. This is the easiest way to manage stress, and negative emotions will evaporate ‘on their own’.

Uninterrupted flow

In contrast to the state of balance, various emotional states directly disrupt the functioning of our organs. When we are overwhelmed by an emotion, it prevents the smooth flow of energy along the meridians, the energy pathways through which energy is distributed throughout the body and brings fuel to all systems in the body, and is vital for the proper functioning of the organs.

Emotional states and external influences directly affect the functioning of our energy system and thus the state of our body as a whole. Traditional Chinese medicine describes how any emotion that is exaggerated can interfere with the functioning of a particular organ. The longer and more strongly we are in a particular emotional state, the more this effect accumulates and the functioning of the organ it affects collapses.

"You need to be aware that an excessive emotional state will sooner or later lead you to illness, so take your health and happiness into your own hands," We must not allow an emotion to linger in our body for more than two to three days, in on the contrary, an excess is already beginning to show in our body. We must also not suppress emotions, we must feel and experience them, but we must not allow it to flood the whole body, as this will only throw it off balance.

Anger and liver

Which emotion is associated with which organ? This question is answered by the sentence: You go to my liver, which describes what happens when we get angry. Anger produces a disturbance in our energy system in the liver, which does not receive the energy it needs, and the old energy used is blocked and accumulates in them. Such a condition can be compared to inhaling fresh air and not exhaling it. So no matter how fresh the air was, we need to exhale it. Anger will create this blockage and old energy will linger in the liver.

So if we get too angry and even if we push the anger, it will interfere with receiving and releasing energy. Day after day, the liver thus loses its function. Does this mean that anger should be ignored? “No, because we can’t simply erase emotions. They are the result of our lives. But if instead of anger or pushing anger we choose to understand and act with action, the negative energy will flow out of the body and the body will go back to a harmonious state. So we won't have to get angry, because anger simply won't be created, "says dr. Wu. People who often suppress anger develop serious illnesses such as liver disease or tumors.

Joy and heart, sadness and lungs

Frequent sadness or over-enthusiasm leads to an imbalance in the functioning of the heart meridian. Grief or anxiety according to Chinese medicine can lead to an imbalance of the lungs, which can then progress to an imbalance of heart energy. Cardiac meridian imbalance is read, among other things, as restraint, timidity, accelerated sweating, and pale complexion. People who become accustomed to such behavior are at risk for heart, heart, stomach and throat diseases.

Fear and kidney

Fear and depression are the emotions that most damage the vital energy of the kidneys. The kidneys are the door to life, as they give energy to a whole range of other systems in the body: the endocrine glands, the ear, the bones, the reproductive organs. They are an organ of rejuvenation, well-being and renewal. Healthy energy in the kidneys creates determination and readiness for change, so we need to constantly strengthen the kidneys. You can strengthen them with egg soup, pork kidneys or liver, but most importantly, your emotions are balanced, you can also help yourself with diet.

Anxiety and spleen

Thoughtfulness, excessive complication of everything possible, or confusion are responses associated with an imbalance of spleen energy. If we think often and for a long time, go back and change our decisions, we interfere with the proper flow of energy through the spleen. The body will respond with problems with the stomach, digestion and skin.

If we know which emotions are related to which organ, we will be able to make a new map of our body. The problems that kill us are warnings and requests from the body to change attitudes and behaviors. If we become aware of these signs and change our approach, we will often be able to avoid developing negative emotions and our body will return to us with health and well-being.

We can also help ourselves with five colors (green, red, yellow, white, black) and five flavors (sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, salty), which we will bring into the body with a varied diet and will help balance our anger, anxiety , sadness and worry.
