β˜… Archimedes was born in about 212 BC. On the island of Syracuse in the Sicilian archipelago. Father Fedias was an astronomer. In his adolescence and youth he studied in Alexandria. At that time Alexandria was the seat of knowledge and science. As a student, Archimedes became known for his extraordinary intelligence and sweet personality. His guru was Canon. Canon was a student of the great Euclid, the father of geometry. Following in the footsteps of his predecessors, he wanted to become a mathematician. He was most interested in mathematics, especially geometry. Euclid, Archimedes began his work where Canon had finished their subject.

Archimedes hated war. It was also against his nature to act in obedience to anyone. But since he was a subject of Syracuse, a courtier of Emperor Hierro, he had to obey the emperor's orders.

He made about 40 discoveries at the behest of the emperor. Some of them were business things but most of them were in need of the military department.

The story of Emperor Hierro of Syracuse--

Emperor Hierro made a gold crown with a goldsmith. After receiving the crown, the emperor thought that there was a mixture of alloy in it. But the goldsmith denied the allegations. But the emperor's doubts did not go away. He commissioned Archimedes, a court scientist, to determine the real truth.

Archimedes fell into great thought. No damage can be done to the crown by order of the emperor. Archimedes did not think how to determine the shape of the crown without breaking it. A few days passed. Archimedes gradually became restless. One day at noon, thinking about the crown, he took off all his clothes and went down to bathe in the tub. As soon as the body was submerged in the water, Archimedes noticed that some water was overflowing from the basin. At that moment a new thought arose in his head. He jumped up from the pool. He forgot he had no clothes on. In the joy of solving the problem, he ran to the royal court naked.

He took gold equal to the crown. He dipped the crown in a pot of water. It was seen that some water overflowed. This time the crown was dipped in a water-filled vessel with gold equal to its weight. The amount of water that overflowed was weighed and it was found that its weight was different from the previous overflowing water. Archimedes says the crown has a mixture of alloys. Because if the crown were completely gold, the weight of the overflowing water would be equal in both cases.

Archimedes' single discovery--

Archimedes' only discovery was the pulley and the liver. Once upon a time, a ship was stuck in a chariot in such a way that it was no longer possible to float it. Archimedes observed everything well. He thought that only if this ship could be lifted was it possible to float it. Everyone laughed at Archimedes.

In a few days he invented the liver and the pulley. He arranged for the lever to be mounted on a high place on the wharf. He tied a huge rope between them. One end of the rope was tied to the side of the ship.

To see this strange thing, Emperor Hierro himself came to the dock. The city collapsed where all the people had gathered. Archimedes requested the emperor to pull the other end of the lever rope. At Archimedes' words, the emperor grabbed the rope with all his might. Immediate surprise. The ship shook. There were screams all around. This time many more joined hands with the emperor. As soon as everyone pulled together, the ship really started to rise into the air. The emperor embraced Archimedes with joy.

This discovery made it easier to draw large stones, heavy objects, and water from wells. Archimedes once proudly said that if I had a little place to stand outside the earth, I would shake the earth with the help of this lever pulley of mine.

Discovery of Archimedes--

Exact information about the discovery of the great scientist Archimedes is not known. Although he discovered equipment for military purposes, he had no interest in it. He was mainly interested in mathematics. He spent most of the day immersed in research. He would then forget everything about the outside world. It has been a long time since his workman has given him food but he has not touched it all day. He forgot about food. It was found that he was doing arithmetic on the wall of the bathroom. He has written twelve books on mechanics, geometry and astronomy. Besides, there is no trace of any of his other works.

Archimedes' notable mathematical discoveries were:

1. The circumference and diameter ratio of the circle is between 310/71 and 31/7.

2. Determined the area of the hyperbolic parts.

3. Invented 32 promises about conical and spherical objects.

4. As the basis of the theory of mechanics, he laid down the theory of plane field equilibrium.

Many of his discovered truths still guide scientists today

Archimedes' formula--

The formula was discovered by the Greek philosopher Archimedes in the third century BC.

"When an object is partially or completely immersed in a stationary liquid or gaseous substance, the object appears to lose some weight. This lost weight is equal to the weight of the liquid or gaseous substance removed by the object."

Archimedes' principle--

When an object is partially or completely immersed in a liquid or gaseous substance, the object loses some weight, this lost weight is equal to the weight of the liquid or gaseous substance removed by the object.

The famous seven quotes of the great scientist Archimedes

Archimedes is simultaneously a mathematician, physicist, engineer and inventor. He was born in Syracuse, Greece. He contributed a lot to the invention of modern calculus. It is said that many major branches of mathematics were started by Archimedes.

At the king's command, Archimedes once built an armor that burned down enemy ships.

  • 1) Mathematics captures him with true beauty, who moves towards mathematics with a pure mind and love.

  • 2) You just have to give me a place to stand. I can shake the whole world.

  • 3) Try to impress everyone and dominate the whole world.

  • 4) Those who claim that they know everything but cannot show any proof, surely they know something which is not possible for man to know.

  • 5) People have always known from the past. This is because it is never possible for people to learn anything in the past.

  • 6) For those who have not studied or tried to know about mathematics, many things in the world are incomprehensible.

  • 7) No matter how incomprehensible there is in geometry, at one time people have been able to prove it.

The end of life--

The Roman general captured Syracuse. Marculus ordered that Archimedes not be killed. He was brought to her in honor because he wanted to see the great scientist who alone had resisted his huge army.

But none of the soldiers knew Archimedes. They started searching all over the city. The self-absorbed Archimedes was then doing research in his mind. He does not keep any news of the victory of the enemy. While searching, a soldier saw an old man with a white beard all over his face. Sitting in front of his cottage, he is drawing a circle on the floor with chalk chalk in his mind.

The soldier said, "Come with me, our commander is looking for you." The old Archimedes said, I am busy now. I can't go anywhere until the work is done.

The Roman army was not ready to listen to such talk. He must obey the order given to him. Archimedes grabbed Archimedes by the hand and pulled him out.

I can't go anywhere if I don't finish my work.

The soldier could not bear it anymore. So much competition of a citizen of the defeated country, ignoring his orders! Suddenly he drew his sword and cut off the body of the great scientist. His unfinished work ended in a stream of blood.

Archimedes was killed probably in 287. Marculus was deeply saddened to see the scientist's severed head. He buried the body of Archimedes with dignity.
