Before Islam, women did not have a dignified position in ignorant Arab society. They were considered objects of enjoyment. Women were the special occasion of night poetry recitals and wine chats. In life and society, their great emphasis was not considered to be more than the means of entertainment of the husband or master. Women were considered a disgrace and a curse for family, society and clan. Even women were buried alive for fear of social shame.
In the Holy Qur'an, women are given inheritance of property along with men. Similarly, the property of mothers, wives, daughters, husbands and, in special cases, the property of sisters and brothers has been established. Once Wise Karni (RA) sent a message to the Prophet, O Messenger of Allah (SAW). I really want to see you, but my mother is very sick, what can I do now?
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) replied, I do not have to come. It is more important to serve your mother than to meet me. Because of serving his mother, he has not been able to meet her since the time of the beloved Prophet.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Paradise is obligatory for a person who has three daughters whom he cherishes and treats kindly. The Companions asked, O Messenger of God! What if you have two daughters? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Even if there are two (Bukhari: 2481)
