Dedication to new writers

Writer:- Bankimchandra Chatterjee

1. Do not write for glory. If that is the case, then there will be no glory, no writing. If the writing is good, fame will come to you.

2. Don't write for money. Many people in Europe now write for money, and get paid; Writing is also good. But we still don't have that day. Now when it comes to writing for the purpose of money, folk-dyeing-instinct becomes strong. Now, considering the tastes and teachings of the general readers of our country, the composition becomes distorted and harmful when it comes to painting.

3. If you think that writing can do some good for the country or the human race, or create beauty, then you must write. Those who write for other purposes can be considered as low caste businessmen like Jatrawala.

4. Which is untrue, ungodly; All those articles whose purpose is slander or persecution or self-interest can never be beneficial, so it is absolutely unavoidable. Truth and religion are the purpose of literature. Writing-holding for other purposes is a great sin.

5. Whatever you write, don't print it all of a sudden. Leave it for some time. Will correct it after some time. If so, you will see that there are many flaws in the article. Kavya Natak novels are especially good if they are revised after a year or two. For those who are novices in the work of periodical literature, the observance of this rule does not occur. Therefore, temporary literature is degrading for the writer.

. He has no right to interfere in matters which he has no right to. This is straightforward but this rule is not maintained in contemporary literature.

. Do not try to express knowledge. If you have knowledge, you reveal it, you don't have to try. Attempts to express knowledge are extremely annoying to the reader, and particularly detrimental to the neatness of the composition. In the present article we see more English, Sanskrit, French, German, quotations. The language you don't know, never quote from that language with the help of the next book.

. Don't resort to rhetoric or jokes. Rhetoric or satire is needed in places; If you have this content in the author's repository, you will arrive as needed লে if you don't have it in the repository, you won't be able to come even with your head bowed. There is nothing more nasty than trying to use rhetoric or jokes at an inopportune time.

9. It is an ancient rule to cut off the place where the ornament or satire will feel big and beautiful. I don't talk about that. But my suggestion is that the place should be read to friends over and over again. If it is not good, then if you read it two or four times, the writer himself will not like it anymore, he will be ashamed to read it to his friends. Then he will cut it.

10. The best ornament of all ornaments is simplicity. The best writer is the one who can easily explain your thoughts to the reader. Why not, make the reader understand the purpose of writing.

11. Do not imitate anyone. In imitation the faults are imitated, the virtues are not. If such an English or Sanskrit or Bengali writer has written like this, I will also write like this, never give place to this.

12. Don't write down words that you can't prove. Evidence doesn’t need to be applied all the time, but would like to be on hand.

13. Bengali literature, the hope of Bengal. If these rules are maintained by Bengali writers, the development of Bengali literature will continue to accelerate.
