Steven Maeda said that presenting Chopper in his realistic 90cm-tall version would be difficult
The general supervisor of the One Piece reality series says that introducing Chopper in the second season of the series will be a challenge
The general supervisor of the One Piece series spoke about introducing more characters from the anime and manga series One Piece to its real-life series, including “Chopper,” one of the “Monkey D. Luffy” crew, whose introduction in the second season of the series seems to be difficult for the series’ makers.
Speaking to IGN, Steven Maeda discussed how it can be difficult to transfer certain elements from the world of mangaka Eiichiro Oda into the live-action series.
Although it hasn't been announced yet, Season 2 will bring perhaps the most complex of these as Netflix will have to add 90cm-tall reindeer hybrid Chopper to the cast of the live-action series.
Steven Maeda has remained tight-lipped about any potential continuation of the One Piece series on Netflix, but when asked if he was thinking about how Chopper might work, he said:
Chopper is my favorite character in the series, but I admit that it will still be difficult, it is definitely a challenge to present him on screen.
The One Piece series premiered last August 28 and achieved 18.5 million views within the first 4 days of its release, and fans were pleased to see a long, ongoing manga joke appear in the series. While the renewal of the series has not yet been officially announced, the CEO of Tomorrow Studio, which produces the One Piece series, said that the second season may be ready within 18 months, once the ongoing strikes end.
