A River of Ice I took this photo during our visit to the Songhuajiang Highway Bridge in Harbin, China way back in February 2019. Winter was almost done, but the river was still frozen. As tourists, we couldn’t miss walking on the bridge, where there were parts of the flooring that was made of thick glass so you can see through below. But I was more mesmerized with the view from afar, capturing the bridge with the frozen river. Some people went walking on the ice, but our guide advised us not to do it because it may be frozen on the outside, but not inside. If the ice cracks and breaks because of your weight, and you fall, the strong water current underneath will drag you away and you’ll be trapped beneath the ice. True, the experience of walking on ice would be great but the consequences should you be unlucky would be terribly dire. We chose to be safe than sorry. Would you have walked on the ice despite the risk? #ice #bridge #river #winter #myownphoto #originalcontent #katsphotography #Photography
