Liberty. Equality. Security.
These words are just some of the countless benefits of having human rights. Human rights deliberate rights on the human being. Human Rights are integral to all human beings, whatever our nationality, residence, language, origin, sex, color, and any other status. We are all equally entitled to human rights without discrimination. It is believed that human rights also has become an essential part of every individual. Some say that without human rights one cannot live as human beings for human rights are essential for individuals to develop their personality, their human qualities, intelligence, talent, and conscience and to enable them to satisfy their spiritual and other higher needs.
Some may be clueless but it’s an invisible safety net for all of us and every individual, working silently to ensure our rights are respected, and a crucial shield and sword for the most vulnerable ones. Human rights can be a help or can serve as protection for women fleeing domestic violence to older people in care homes or forthe disabled seeking proper support. From helping victims of domestic abuse to protecting confidential communications between lawyers and their clients. The Human Rights Act helps us to fight injustice and incompetence which is rampant nowadays. It’s been used by hospital patients facing homelessness after discharge, rape survivors whose experiences haven’t been properly investigated by the police, and disabled people whose right to dignity has been violated.
However, right now this vital protection of ours is at risk. Attacked by some politicians, misreported by the press, and misunderstood by many and I believe it’s time to spread the message that protection of human rights matters. We must not let politicians take away these universal rights at the stroke of a pen. We should do our best to provide protection to these rights against the abuse of power committed by the organs of the State. We should bear in our mind that over the centuries many people have fought and died for the rights we enjoy today.
Indeed, human rights play an integral role in our life. It is one of the many reasons why we are not deprived of life, liberty, equality, and security. And I believe in today’s world many people would want to take away that freedom. So this is exactly the time that human rights must be protected and cherished. It is the time to strengthen the laws that can protect the human rights and one of these is our “Bill of Rights”. Human rights are there to protect every single one of us. Don't you just sit there as politicians attempt to attack and undermine our rights.
