Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said in Parliament that her government will not spare anyone involved in the crime to stop the legacy of extrajudicial killings initiated by military dictator Ziaur Rahman and institutionalized by his wife Khaleda Zia.
The Prime Minister said, you are talking about extrajudicial killings. But who started it? It started during the tenure of Ziaur Rahman.
The bodies of many of our leaders and activists were not found then and then it (extrajudicial killing) took institutional form (during Khaleda Zia's tenure). We are trying to stop its continuity.
Noting that his government is not condoning anyone involved in (such) crimes, the Prime Minister said, "We are not condoning anyone (involved in extrajudicial killings) and we will never do that."
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks in her closing remarks while drawing the attention of Deputy Leader of the Opposition GM Quader on the issue of extrajudicial killings in the ninth session of the 11th National Assembly.
Thursday (September 10) morning, the speaker said. The ninth session of the Jatiya Sangsad began with Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury in the chair.
Criticizing law enforcement agencies, the Prime Minister called on all to be pragmatic and constructive, saying they were working at the risk of their lives to control drugs, terrorism and militancy.
It must be remembered that they (law enforcement forces) should not lose their enthusiasm in this work.
"At the same time, we need to think that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to control drugs, terrorism and militancy at the risk of their lives, and they have achieved great success," he said.
He reminds everyone that his government is not letting anyone down in the event of an (unexpected) event. They are taking appropriate action against the wrongdoers.
The Prime Minister said criticism is good but it should be kept in mind that those who are ensuring the safety of the people and those to whom people are rushing in any danger should not lose interest.
