Pradeep's step-sister Ratnabala has accused Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Das of embezzling property worth crores of rupees at the ACC Chittagong district office. ACC officials said on Friday that an application had been made to the ACC head office seeking permission to investigate the allegations.

Ratnabala, Pradeep Das's half-sister, complained to the ACC district office that 12 acres of his land and a four-storey building had been seized in the Muradpur area of Chittagong. It is alleged that Pradeep Das pledged these properties in the name of his wife Chumki Karan for Tk 1.30 crore. However, Pradeep did not pay any money to Ratnabala for the deposit; On the contrary, Pradeep Das has filed a case against Ratnabala's son Vivek Ranjan Chowdhury for torturing women. Ranjan Chowdhury also had to stay in jail. A woman named Nilufa of Teknaf has been named as the plaintiff in the case. Ratnabala alleged that Ranjan's daughter Baby Chowdhury was also assaulted.

Ratnabala said his father was Prem Lal Prajapati and his mother was Jugal Rani Prajapati. Ratnabala's father died leaving two daughters. Ratnabala's mother then married a man named Harendra Lal Das. Ratnabala's three brothers including Pradeep Das were born in that house. Ratnabala's own sister died at a young age. Since then, Ratnabala has owned 12 per cent of the city's land and buildings as his father's property.

ACC assistant director Riaz Uddin said the allegation of embezzlement against Pradeep Das had been sent to the head office for permission. Search will start after permission.
