Art and creativity is expressed in so many ways around us, almost everything that we set our hands on becomes an artwork. The way we decorate our homes, express ourselves in our journals, the way we shape our missions in this time and space, it's all forms of artwork. The subbotage and backstabbing, the loving and caring, the working and grinding, worshipping and faking, it's all artwork and expressions
Intro
Some of the best artwork is by far body works. This type of artwork has been practiced for at least ten thousand years, as observed in ancient writings and scripts describing how it is not spiritually sound to mark the body because back then it was a firm of ownership branding. The rich would brand their help and that would make them owned for life. To be spiritually free it was adviced not to mark the body with any cutting or marking of any kind. Further research showed that, that was an attempt to keep the masses under the indoctrinations.
Straying away from the scripts, there had been found quite a few mummified bodies in different places around the world. Some frozen in the himilayas, Bhutan, some in the Iceland, Alaska, some on top of the Andies, some in the Egyptian tombs and others had been mere archeological findings. One thing these mummies had in common was body artwork, and some of these mummies had been dated way back like 10 000 years.
The observation of these body art lead to the conclusion that it's not only slavery branding that body art work had been for but in different parts of the world it's been used as a method of protection.
Take the Celtics, they have big love for their God Thor, so they are known to cover or tattoo themselves with Thor's hammer. Back in the ages it was said that by having this symbol of the most powerful weapon ever yielded to man (according to them) would transform their bodies into indestructible tools of war. (We all know they died, or they are dead now, but it's belief that matters right? ) The Celtics have been found with a lot of other kinds of markings and tattoos such as tribal tattoos that are only unique to their region but are closely tied to sacred geometry. This goes to show that they too had seers and oracle's that showed and told them of ways to protect themselves on the Warfield's but obviously that protection wasn't enough to keep them alive until now. Or maybe ๐
On the other side of the world, the whole french Polynesia stretch to Samoan island and Toga, tribal tattoos are a sign of maturity not only for man but for woman too. Tribal tattoos are noticed on woman who choose to show strength but in truth it's more protection and isolation thats behind this in that there is a culture trend that is passed on down the generations. The was of doing these tribal tattoos range from using ants that stung and left a dark black marking, o it's very painful but it's taken as the coming of age.
Elsewhere in the world in the islands of Japan and Korea tattoos were associated with nutoriousity and crime. The bad guys would be the ones to have their bodies riddled with artwork of dragons and Samurais and characters, it was a beautiful mess. Such observation was on the Yakuza, all the members needed to having almost their whole body tattered a certain way, it's not painless and it takes time to earn the whole artwork but it keeps going. These tattoos were mostly done by women as the traditional approach that woman were more gentle than men. Nowadays most people still talk of how there had been tattooed gangs roaming the streets of Tokyo or Seoul hustling people as they go.
Deep into the forests of the Amazon there are numerous Amazonian tribes that too had been fascinated by the idea of body work for year. We are talking thousands of years of Amazonian tribal tattoos being earned as rank marks to show their place in society. From the. Shaman to the chief, to the warriors, everyone had their own unique markings, sort of like a badge to show their levels and capabilities but more in a show off kind of way to say "stay away from me, I'm not a toy to joke with, the whiplash is crazy" most people ignore this and for these reasons a lot of tribes and races went extinct like the Mayans amongst others, one would like to think that this could not have anything to do with body art. But who knows.
These body art is observed all the world, in Africa this was a sacred practice that was reserved for warriors. A common man cannot handle the pressure that comes with body art, the shaming, the relating and possible violence. So if you see the tattered, give streotypical beliefs a break.
Wars and conflicts have arised because of these body art. As different nations meet and interact, it is normal to know who it is that they are getting involved with. Some types of body art makes it impossible for a thorough reading. This has created wild cards over time but for nation leaders this was a reason for treason. The rest lays in the ruins, not being able to read their counterparts, leaders were known to take out whole tribes just because they could not break their spiritual boundaries. This is mostly because the body art connects to the soul, the body art is not only on the body but in the mind, also on the spirit, it's artwork. Makes one unique and only open to whoever they chose to be open to. Body artwork has levels too. Some low levels some high level of spiritual implication and protections.
For this same reason most times that elders or gatekeepers wanted to transfer knowledge, they would perform body artworks. To inscribe the knowledge on the body of the apprentice and have them cover up with robes all the time only to reveal their marking to the next apprentice. This is a practice still being done but it is now much less in that the size of the tattoos had been minimised as they found better ways to store and protect their sacred knowledge.
Nowadays people do body art for all kinds of reasons, on a night out in LA drunk, get a tattoo, heartbroken - get a tattoo, new start -get a tattoo, spiritual awakening- get a tattoo, expressions - get a tattoo. Life stress too much - get a tattoo. The good thing about tattoos these days is that there is less judgement and critics as the days go by more people get InTouch with who they truly are and they owe noone any explanation, leaving judgement in the thoughts and heads of the critic.
Conclusion
Body art has so many purposes, people use it to cover up scars and markings. Others use tattoos to overcome situations as the tattoos serve as a reminder of strength to carry on no matter what. Tattoos have been in our cultures for much longer that we'd like to approve, the truth is that tattoos do not need or seek approval.
If you choose to get yourself a tattoo, do your research well on the types on inks, if you are allergic to any or what it would mean to be tattered by a female or man, where you want it. Either way it's all good and I wish you the best of luck because if you do not like the tattoos, you can always remove them.
