Rape is an act of forcing sexual intercourse or other sexual activities on another person without their consent or against their will. Such was the case with Shechem and Dinah as described in Genesis 34.
"And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her" Genesis 34:2 (KJV)
Dinah's legs couldn't carry her anymore. Her entire body was vibrating. She couldn't believe the events of the past hours. As she looked down at her blood stained legs, she thought about her father who was very devoted to the God of his ancestors. How would he take the news? How would her quick tempered and energetic brothers take the shame and disgrace? How can a harmless visit to her friend's result in such gruesome treatment by the community chief's son? Her dignity, pride and respect has been taken by that singular act of rape. We all know the end of the story, Shechem, the chief's son paid for his crime with his blood.
Rape has a way of shattering the lives of its victims. It pushes them into the depression, frustration and low self esteem zones. They undergo emotional trauma which if not properly handled can leave a permanent dent in their lives. Rape steals away trust, compassion and ability to love from its victim.
Rape is a menace eating deep into our society today. The bible is against rape and every believer must join hands to rid our societies of this menace.
Don't force yourself on people; learn self control and you will be glad that you did. The act of rape does not only victimise the pray, it also puts the rapist in bondage of awaiting judgement and under a curse. If you are or have ever been a rapist, it is time to repent.
Rapist are agents of destruction. Are you?

I refuse to be an agent of destruction through ungodly sexual fantasies.
