Supernatural utterances were a common feature in the book of Acts.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Observe that in this text ‘being filled’ here included tongues.
The term ‘being filled’ implies ‘inspired by’ or ‘ to allow expression’. Being filled is discernible such that men were renowned for such.
Acts 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business…
Vs5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
It has accompanying signs, specifically utterances. This was earlier seen in the four gospels
Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: Vs 42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Elizabeth was filled and spoke out, it’s always heard and seen.
It is not a private experience.
Luke 1:67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, Zacharias was filled and spoke supernatural utterances.
Peter was filled.
Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel.
Peter was filled again, even though he was filled earlier in Acts 2; he maintained the glow, as all believers should.
Same with the entire church in Acts 4:31. Ananias ministered to Saul (Paul) to be filled with the spirit (Acts 9:17) and he was yet filled again in (Acts 13:9). Barnabas also was filled in Acts 11:24.
*Confession:* Being filled with the spirit is accompanied by supernatural utterances so I choose to consistently be filled with the spirit.
