My Favorite Dish: Ensalada Alugbati with Fried Fish

My dish for this lunch time. The ensalada alugbati and Fried Fish(Tilapia). This what i like dish in fried fish with ensalada we do not have a sea weeds so I decide to pick some alugbati in our backyard. It easy to cook and yummy.

Quick Information about " Alugbati " or Malabar Spinach.

  • Malabar Spinach called in our country(Philippines) is Alugbati.

  • It is found in tropical Asia and Africa where it is widely used as a leaf vegetable. It is native to the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and New Guinea.

  • Found in settled areas, in hedges, old cultivated areas, etc., throughout the Philippines.

  • Often cultivated.

  • Prehistoric introduction.

  • Also occurs in tropical Asia, Africa, and Malaya.

  • Common market product, a popular leafy and stew vegetable, and a good substitute for spinach.

  • The green and purple cultivated varieties are preferable to the wild ones.

  • Both the young shoots and stems are eaten.

  • Excellent source of calcium and iron; good source of vitamins A, B, and C, with a high roughage value.

Is this a medical plant?

Actualy yes, The Alugbati Medicinal Uses and Health Benefits: Alugbati or Malabar spinach is without a doubt a succulent vegetable, particularly the younger shoots.The plant is wealthy in saponin, iron and Vitamins A , B and C and is a wealthy supply of soluble fiber, which enables digestion.

Although its leaves resemble spinach and are comparable in flavor, this plant is truly a form of climbing vine. Alugbati is precise in comparison to different leafy inexperienced vegetation as it is capable of continue to exist in each temperate and particularly warm environments. Ingredients:

2 Tomatoes

1/2 Onion

Alugbati

Salt Pepper

Monosodium Glutamate (Vetsin)

Ginisa Mix( Flavoured Seasoning Mix)

Fish (Tilapia)


  • First you need is to boiled the branch of Alugbati

  • Sliced the tomatoes and Onions.

  • Mix it together(Tomatoes,Alugbati and Onion)

  • Sprinkle salt pepper, vetsin or flavoured seasoning mix.

  • Fried the fish( Tilapia)
