Upward communication is the type of communication that starts from the bottom line ascending for its climax. An example of this is you are taking a purposive communication class under Mr. Carinan, at first it's started with greetings and slowly getting to the point that both of the parties are learning from each other. It is the process of exchanging pieces of information started from minor to major that will maximize the benefits for both sides. Upward communication will keep the professor aware of the feelings of the students about the purposive communication subject.
Downward communication is the exact opposite of downward communication. If the upward communication starts from us students, downward communication starts from the higher authorities such as professor, or school headmaster down to students. An example of this is early in the morning, the school headmaster called a faculty meeting and tackles a topic about some minor changes in the academic systems that will later inform the students class by class, comes from the higher position
