"For the sake of all the Filipino and COVID-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year. The huge portion of his earnings will proceed to those who are affected nationwide by the pandemic."
— Jake Joson, Special Assistant to Sen. Manny Pacquiao
This is after the assistant to Sen. Manny Pacquaio confirmed that there is already a negotiation between the two camps of Sen. Manny Pacquaio and Conor McGregor about the proposed bout.
He added that the Honorable Senator is not actually thinking about the sport because we are still in a pandemic. He just wanted to help his countrymen first, hence the decision to give a huge portion of his earnings in the bout to his countrymen and provide relief, food, and shelter and other necessities.
The 41 years-old boxing superstar has won his last bout against the younger Keith Thurman and claimed the WBA Welterweight belt last July 2019, in Las Vegas.
An Honour to fight.
The UFC superstar had already fought another Boxing superstar, Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a very lucrative battle in 2017. And according to him, it would be a true honour to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era. That would be likely his motivation to pursue the fight aside from a guaranteed huge sum of fortune from the bout's pay.
Rumors confirmed.
There is already a rumor around the world in the last few months regarding the possibility of a Pacquiao-McGregor bout, and the Irish Mixed Martial Artist added fire to the flame by tweeting that he is fighting the Filipino Boxing superstar somewhere in the Middle East. It was later on confirmed by the latter's camp and added that their lawyers are working on it to finalize everything about it.
