I wanted to share this information that I saw in facebook awhile ago while busily browsing for some posts in my newsfeed.
(Sorry, I forgot to copy the link)
That post was about the different meaning of lines we saw on the road.
If you are observant person you will probably wonder why some lines on the road are white or sometimes yellow in color? Why some lines are broken and some are continuous? But if you are not observant like me, you probably asking yourself right now, like really? Are they?
I am today's years old that I learn about some those lines and thanks to facebook. All I know is that lines are put in the road to emphasize the right and left lane. And I thought that white and yellow color are used because they are visible enough to see by the riders/drivers.
Some of you, especially those who loved to travel or roadtrips, already know these, but for some who still didn't know this up to now, like me, here are the different lines and meaning.
Meaning of Different Lines in the Road and its Colors.
1. Broken White Lines
A broken white lines gave permission to change lanes, overtake, and take U-turns.
2. Continuous White Lines
On this road, you are not allowed to overtake other vehicles or take U-turns. If you are in this type of road, just keep moving straight.
3. Continuous Yellow Line
On such roads, overtaking is allowed but only when you are on your side. Crossing the yellow line isn't permitted for either side.
4. Double Continuous Yellow Line
A double continuous yellow line implies that crossing the line strictly not permitted for either side. So that implies no overtaking, no U-turns, and no change lanes.
5. Broken Yellow Lines
You are allowed to overtake, take U-turns and you can do both while going over the line
6. Continuous Double White Lines
Double Continuous White Lines means you are not allowed to overtake in either directions. You can cross an unbroken line to enter a driveway side or road-related from the main carriageway. You can also cross the unbroken line when emerging from a driveway, side road or other area.
7. Arrow
Arrows, like this one, indicate a compulsary direction that this lane muat follow.
8. Give way Line
A give way line indicates where a vehicles should stop at the intersection or traffic lights to be safe from turning vehicles and crossing pedestrians.
