The Weekend That Was

 Finally, after more than a year of no vacation or beaching, we were able to have our family holiday. I planned to have it at the north of Cebu so that we can drop by the small property that I bought on instalment.

We booked ahead the venue for our overnight staycation at Maayo Resort San Remegio. I choose this resort as it is an affiliated of the company that I worked with to avail of the employee discount and pay for the rooms by instalment thru payroll deduction.

We left the house around eight in the morning to start our three to four hours travel.

We first went to Villamar Village and Resort at Lamintak Sur Medellin, Cebu. This is where I bought a small property and my hubby has not seen the place yet. So I brought him there so that he can see the property. I have some apprehensions on our way there as I don’t know if he will like the place. It was so far and we even got lost along the way.

When we arrived there, I can see that he was mad already after driving for hours but a few minutes at the place, he was already doing a little vlogging and posted it in his Facebook page, so I know that he liked the place.

The property was a beach front though our property is a block away from the shore.

After getting our fill of the place, meaning, plenty of pictures were taken, we started our drive to Tapilon  Port in Daan Bantayan to have our lunch. This is another hour and a half drive. We called ahead our “suki” who has a carenderia at the port so that they can cook ahead our meal. By the time we arrived the place, our food was already ready. I think I was able to mention this place in my previous articles.

The dish consists mostly of seafood but there was grilled pork too. I was not able to take pictures of some of the food as everyone was starving and directly devoured the meal. We arrived around two in the afternoon so it was a late lunch.

Once our stomachs were full, it was now time to go and travel to the staycation venue, Maayo Resort. It was another two hours drive. We were supposed to check in at three in the afternoon but we arrived there past four or almost five in the afternoon.

As there were twelve of us, we booked three rooms in all. A family room that housed 4 guests, a barkada villa that can accomodate 5 guests and a modular family room that is good for 2 persons only. We just paid for one extra person. Glad that the rooms were quite large and comfortable as we were not able to do much when we arrived at the resort since it started to rain. We were stuck in our room.

It was still slightly raining when we had our dinner at the restaurant. Good that our rooms were located directly in front of the restaurant. It was just a short walk.

We earlier reserved our table and we were placed where there are swings at the side so hubby and son relaxed in one of the swings while waiting for our dinner to be served.

When our dinner was served, it came in a cart. And again it was more on seafood. We were given two carts of this dish set-up.

It was still drizzling after dinner but very slight, so I was able to get a picture of the silent pool. Maybe the guests were still getting ready after dinner. The pool was open until ten in the evening and as it was still seven by the time we finish dinner, there is still plenty of time to enjoy the pool.

Zander was the first one to enjoy the pool right after dinner.

I woke up early to savor the place while there are no people around yet and got a lot of pictures of the beauty of the morning.

I don’t have much pictures during our swimming time. My kids took a lot of pictures though.

Then it was time for us to check out. While waiting for us to be cleared, I had another session of picture taking.

We stopped by a carenderia in Bogo for lunch, and what a lunch that is. The carenderia boast of linat-ang native chicken, and tuna panga.

With our tummy full, we started our three – four hours drive going home.

Ooops… we have to stopped by my sister’s house as she celebrated her daughter’s birthday on an earlier date instead of October 7. It was along the way on our way home. Again another round of eating.

I loved the cauliflower rice that my sister cooked herself. That is all I ate that night as I was still full.

That is what happened during the weekend that was… It was kind of a food trip with having vitamin sea at the side.
