How was "Facebook" discovered?
Facebook is a global social networking website, founded on February 4, 2004. It is possible become a member for free. It is owned by "Facebook Inc". Users can add friends, send messages and update and exchange their personal information, as well as a user can join city, workplace, school and region-based networks. The website is a named after a book provided by the university administration to commemorate the good acquaintances among the students at the beginning of the academic year.
Mark Zuckerberg created "Facebook" in a joint effort of his classmates and computer science students Eduardo Severin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes while studying at Havard University. Membership of the website was intitally limited to Havard University students, but later expanded to other colleges in Boston, the lvy Leauge, and Standford University. More later it is open to all universities, colleges, high schools and 13-year-old or older. The website is currently used by about 300 million active members worldwide.
"Facebook" has faced several obstacles in its path. It is partially effective in several countries, including Syria, China and Iran. Its use has been banned by discouraging employees by explaining time wastage. The "Facebook" website has had to read the legal complexities several times bu Zuckerberg's classmates has embezzled their source code and other intellectual property.
History
Mark Zuckerberg, during his second year at Havard, created "Facebook's" predecessor, FaceMass, on October 26, 2003. In it, he used pictures of students from 9 houses at Havard. He showed two pictures side by side and asked all Havard students to vote. Which picture is hot and which is not hot."Hot or Not". That's why Mark Zuckerberg hacked into Havard's stored data centre. In just 4 hours, 450 visitors voted online for 22,000 images on the FaceMass site.
2004: Inspired by FaceMass, Mark began writing code for his new site in January 2004 and "Facebook" in February at Havard's dormitory Kim's inaugurated. Mark Zuckerberg was soon joined by Dustin Moskowitz (programmer), Chris Hughes and Eduardo Severin (also business spokesperson) and Andrew McCallum (graphic artist) . The office was taken over in Palo Alto in June. The number of users reached 1 million in December.
2005: In August, The "Facebook.com" was renamed "Facebook". The number of users in December is 5.5 million.
2006: Microsoft establishes relationship with Facebook in August for strategic reasons. Facebook has been open to the public since September. Earlier, only employees of different organizations were its users. The number of users in December stood at one crore 20 lakhs.
2007: Facebook is launched in France and Spain in February, after Canada and the United Kingdom. Facebook chat was launched in April. The number of users in August stood at 100 million.
2009: 15 crore users in January. The number of Facebook users in December was 35 crore.
2010: The number was 400 million in February, 500 million in July. And in December this number is 55 crores.

In May 2008, Adam D'Angelo, Facebook’s cheif technology officer and a friend of Mark Zuckerberg, resigned. Reports surfaced that there was a conflict between them, and he lost interest in partial ownership of the company.
Facebook has about 2000 employees and offices in 15 countries.
