Most mistakes guys make when they want to approach a girl is that they fail to notice the kind of aura that hangs around the girl or they fail to notice the vibe the girl is feeling at they time. The girl maybe angry, sad, lonely, depressed or even heartbroken or hurt and approaching her at that time is something you may regret later. And also approaching moody girls won't really bring you good luck. Also if she's a close friend who shares most of her life events with you including when she's on her period then you might wanna give her some space cause most girls on their period can be a disaster(no offense). So am gonna give major things you should know when you wanna approach a girl. 2 of which are;
1 KNOW THE TYPE OF GIRL YOU WANNA APPROACH
Most guys don't know the type of girl they wanna approach instead they prefer to stand in the mirror and mutter self encouraging words like 'I'm cool' 'girls die for shits like this'(that's if you understand what I mean, hmm hmm) 'you can do this bro' rather than study the girl of their future(in their dreams). If she's the 'I don't give a fuck' or the 'I don't give 2 shits' type of girl then am sorry your 'I'm cool' cover is about to be blown especially when it comes with a slap on the school hallway. So it is most advisable you know who she is under that sweet smile.
2 KNOW THE KIND OF 'FACE MASK' SHE HAS ON AT THAT TIME(and by that I mean the kind of face she pulls on at the time)
If she has the 'fuck! Am damn angry and I don't know why' , 'Goddammit I missed breakfast' (a hungry lady is one angry lady), 'oh Geez am fucked' or the 'damn he's kissing her again' look then you should not or you should never approach her then especially when she has the 'I'm heartbroken' look on her face then don't approach her. But when she has the high spirit vibes in her or the cheeky smile that says'I don't give a shit miss Benson am happy' then you are in one of the most favorable atmosphere to approach but there is a condition which I'd state in the part 2 of this article, so until then...
