It took her 11 days.

Scientists from the Global Flyway Network found a bird that was able to travel from Alaska to New Zealand without ever stopping. This record holder turned out to be a male small bode - he was one of four birds observed by ornithologists using a special tracker.

For two months, the greese lived along with relatives in the Alaskan swamps, and on September 16, the flock left the United States and went south. After 11 days, radars spotted a bird in a bay near New Zealand's Auckland. According to the tracker, the spindle flew 7969.48 miles, but the scientists corrected possible errors in the calculations and determined the real distance - 7564 miles. At the same time, it turned out that the bird had never stopped during all this time. She did not sleep and most of the time she actively worked with her wings, writes the Guardian.

At the moment, this is an absolute record for movement among birds. The previous longest non-stop flight of a bird was recorded in 2007 at 11,680 miles.
