Now a resident of Japan will be able to return home.

Peruvian authorities have allowed the only tourist to visit the ruins of Machu Picchu during strict quarantine in the country.

Jesse Takayama flew in from Japan back in March to fulfill an old dream and see the Inca citadel with his own eyes. He managed to get to a mountain village near the ancient city and fell into a trap - a strict quarantine was introduced in the country.

Takayama was stuck in Peru for 7 months and only learned in October that he could fly home.

Before returning, Takayama sent a special request to the authorities asking for permission to see Machu Picchu, given the exceptional circumstances. The Ministry of Culture met him halfway.

The Japanese walked through the ancient city together with the head of the historical reserve. “This is so amazing! Thanks!" - he thanked Peru for the unique opportunity.
