What do you want out of life?
Not enough thought in this question
Sometimes we feel that we're not getting what we deserve or want out of life, being in a work that we don't really feel content with, relationships that bring us more anxiety and stress than joy or relaxation and at the end of the day, all we have to cope with that are our phones to bury our heads in with social media. There might be a lot of underlying problems that have to do with this, like trauma, not feeling that we're really worth of the things we want, though most of the time all this condenses to a simple statement, we don't know what we really want. All our lives we fantasize of a dream life with the person of our dreams, wealth and a work that doesn't feel like It, however, we only think about the benefits It can bring you, without giving It a concrete shape to which aim to. That's why in this article I will discuss in further deep how you might not be knowing what you really want out of your life and how It's damaging your progress. Let's begin by talking about how to figure out If this is the case:
How to know If I don't know what I want:
The first thing to do is to look is at the things you're really aiming at the moment. For example, you might be working a 9 to 5 job, where all you're looking for is the weekend to take a rest for 2 or 3 days and forget about It, not having any more pleasurable activities in your free time than to check at your phone and looking at how your friends are doing It, making you feel miserable when you have to hit the bed and leading you to many nights without much sleep. This might prove that you're not heading in the right direction and you have to redefine your goals, in order to know what you really have to reach and what you need to do in order to get It.
Another example might be If you're studying, where you feel you might not be performing at the level you should be doing in order to get the right amount of knowledge. The worst of all is that you know the things you should be focusing at in order to get the best results, though you're not really doing anything to make them. This might indicate that you're not really going where you want to, and you might require to look at your objectives in a non-judgemental way, asking you If that Is what you really desire to do with the rest of your life or you're just doing It to feel like you're contributing to the world or to please the judgement of others.
How do I know what I want?
Sometimes we bust our minds to find that real goal that we seek to in our life, though sometimes we focus too much in finding this question through rational means that we don't realize the answer lies in something so simple, our feelings.
Remember those activities that you were attracted to as a kid? Maybe pretending that you were a radio host or making drawings. All those things that made you feel a sense of joy by just performing them, not caring about the outcome at all. That is what you should look at when trying to find what you want to do in life, seek at that pleasure that doing something and getting good at It can only provide you, in this way you will be much more sure to really find what you want out of life.
Again, I hope that with the information presented in this article I could have given you some insight as to why you might not know what you want out of life and how this can be having a negative impact on how you're living, along with some advice as to how to find what is that you really desire to ocuppy your time with for the rest of your life. Thank you for your support and good luck!
