The importance of perseverance
What's behind all triumphs
Have you ever faced problems that at first glimpse seemed impossible, though with enough patience, attention and discipline you were able to get through? Well, you surely put in practice one value that is overlooked on these days, though It is essential for us reaching any significant goal in our lives, and that It is perseverance, the key to any significant achievement in history. From great inventors like Thomas Edison, whose approach was to try every possible solution before getting to the right one, to heroes of greek mythology like odysseus, who endured all sorts of tribulations and setback before finally getting to his home in Ithaca, we can find a long list of examples of people resisting all sorts of failures, pain and tears before finally getting the glory, signaling that there's virtue in not giving up. That's why in this article I will signal some reasons as to why Perseverance is so important for our lives, letting you know what focus towards one goal can give you. Let's begin by explaining what perseverance is:
What Is Perseverance?
Usually associated with constancy and willpower (Even though they're not entirely the same thing), Perseverance is a person's capacity to stand by a decision that was taken or to work towards a particular goal without quitting, even through the hardest obstacles. You might have seen It in times where you really wanted something and you were willing to do anything to get It through hard work, characterized by the backbone to endure the suffering that was required to reach your objective.
Now that you know what perseverance Is, we can begin to talk about the many benefits It can bring to our lives, benefits like:
Creating New Solutions
In times where there is not a really defined pathway to take to get to the root of a problem and solving It, using perseverance to evaluate all the variables and all the possible scenarios that might lead to a hint of getting Its conclusion and trying every single one till It works is the key to find new things and discover things that people that might encounter the same problems in the future can thank you about.
Feeds Resilience
One of the things to keep in mind is that when you sit and do your work despite of all the complaining, all the bad conditions and all the factors that might be conspiring against you, you'll harden your nerves, thus making up for an increased chance of you doing It the next time and becoming better at withstanding the blows of life. As some say, to have a good life sometimes you don't require more things to entertain yourself, though to learn to be miserable while doing what you're supposed to.
Feeling Proud after Concluding
Nothing better than the dopamine hitting your system after getting completed a difficult task, knowing that all the time that took you to get It made you not only wiser, but also tougher and more strategical, giving you the needed encouragement to keep going forward with momentum.
I hope that this little article could have been of use to you, highlighting the principle of Perseverance, what It really means and giving you some reasons as to why this ability we have is maybe the most important to rely on when you have to get things done, encouraging you to remember that whatever that's happening to you right now will be temporal, though the joy of a meaningful existence is forever. Thank you for your support and good luck!
I love your topic today. Even the churches I watch online talk about dopamine and other terms I don't know about neuroscience.
I like this and I can relate much 👇
