Nothing can disappoint you If you expect nothing from It in the first place.

When we are young, we are easily impressionable and get really excited for everything, expecting different moments and gifts with impatience and predicting a sensation of joy by just having the simplest of experiences, though there's a little drawback to this: The sense of disappointment we felt when things didn't go our way or we didn't get what we wanted, which easily overwhelmed the previous cheerfulness of anticipation, even If the reward was only delayed. Sustaining this kind of attitude for a prolonged period of our existence, especially as we get older, can be detrimental to our outlook in life, as expecting too much of everything we do can bring us nothing but desperation at the uncertainty of how things happen. In the next paragraphs we'll analyze how this happens and how we can actually improve our attitude by just not expecting anything and enjoying life as It is, unpredictable and beautiful.

How does It happen?

Is easy as It has happened to all of us: We have a big date coming up, maybe a party, the day where the project of our lives culminates or simply just buying that new thing you wanted all year. All of this makes us feel euphoric as we just imagine what It would be like to have that in our hands, how It'll be the most marvelous thing in the world, inflating the myth by just filling the gaps with a lot of details. Then, something unexpected happens. Maybe the date is postponed, the party gets canceled, our project fails us at the last time or the price of It goes up at the last moment. Or even worse, as we go to that party, we find out that It is really boring and no one is paying attention to how much time we spent getting dressed up or that the thing we just bought is not really the next best thing though another gadget that will gather dust in our garage. Nothing can describe the frustration of seeing the carefully constructed fantasy around what we desired getting demolished in front of our eyes. It's easy to understand, we like for things to go our way, and then when they don't happen like that, we have to adapt to the harsh reality of things.

Expect nothing From It, the best choice.

Here is when we try to get a new outlook for events in life, just not thinking too much about how things would go in the best scenario, but to accept that things can go in any direction and having an already low expectation of It. In this way, we'll get rid of the bad taste that the unexpected leaves us. Let's put another example for this. Let's say you're just getting graduated from college and you're the one appointed to make an speech in front of the crowd in behalf of all the graduates. Here you have two choices, expecting that the crowd will clap till their hands hurt and that they will scream your name at the top of their lungs when you finish speaking, which will make you doubly nervous as you try to perform in front of them and will make you more prone to make mistakes and lose your train of though; or you can choose the second option, not expecting any reaction from the people. They might clap or not, you might even get a little boos, though you don't expect any concert stadium kind of noise. By already lowering your expectations, you'll feel more relaxed as you don't have a thing to prove and It will permit you to speak with more confidence an ease when you make your speech.

We hope that with the presented information you can get something of use when approaching things in life, adopting a humble attitude against fate and, as Matthew McConaughey says, being "Less Impressed, More Involved". Good Luck!
