How to make journaling not feel like a chore
Don't take the fun out of tracking your life
The main reasons why many people stop a practice that's so beneficial as journaling are that It feels more like a chore than something fun to do, coupled with the fact that most of the time there's nothing to tell.
This causes a lot of confusion and anxiety when we're about to go to sleep and write every detail about the day, making us feel guilty If we don't do It.
However, what people should recognize is that journals are used to track meaningful events in our lives, whether positive or negative; and analyze them to get the most out of them and learn while doing so.
There's not a universal rule that dictates journaling should be done every day, and that's why I will explain to you the benefits of journaling when changes in your life occur, all so you can get the most out of every experience and grow. Let's begin:
1.- Makes Progress Visible
Sometimes we feel stuck in our journey, as we don't see the results we would like even after following the daily steps perfectly. However, most of us don't realize that we have made progress, but It is not so apparent.
Our mind gets quickly accustomed to changes in our image and level of competence, sometimes doing It so fast that we don't even notice those changes. For example, If you exercise for over a year, you might not see how much muscle you have built over that period.
If you journal your progress, you will see how much you have improved more reliably, keeping you more motivated and engaged in what you are doing.
2.- Accept your mistakes and negative emotions
All of us go through bad moments when we don't have someone to talk to at our side. This is when a journal to unload your thoughts comes in handy, as It will give you room to share your thoughts without fear of being judged.
When you express your ideas and opinions on paper, you take off all those overbearing ideas and emotions that take hours from your sleep and battle anxiety, helping you create solutions to the problems that affect you.
That's why, If you want to increase your level of clarity during stressful moments, journaling is your best option.
I hope that this article could have been of benefit to you, giving you insights as to why Journaling is a good practice, which, even If hardly practiced, can be of great help during moments of self-doubt, letting us craft effective responses to our problems and making us accept that even If flawed, we all are beautiful.
