Not all is work

Hustle culture shows Itself as a mark of proudness for those who practice It. Those days of working till high hours of the night until falling unconscious and moving in all direction 24/7 had become a medal for those devotes to these work schemes. However, there's something that affects the quality of the work of people who form part of this movement. Being present all day in your work doesn't leave you time to think of solutions in a subconscious level and usually leads you to wrong conclusions till their last ends, In conjuntion with this, moving from one activity to another in this agitated lifestyle creates a decrement in the amount of energy we can spend to focus on something. That's why working all day and all night might not be the most productive route. However, there's an alternative to this, a mode of living that can both encompass the hardships of having a busy routine and enjoying productive periods of rest, all determined by a single statement, setting boundaries. In this article I will talk about the importance of setting time to use for our recovery and replenish our storages of concentration all by getting away from the preocupations of a particular routine and how you can apply It to your own situation. Let's begin by portraying how too much work affects us:

Why work actually slows us down?

Have you actually asked yourself why the best ideas our solutions to apparently complicated problems come in the shower or the toilet? That's because as we drop what we doing, the brain begins not only to work in a subconscious manner associating all kinds of different ideas though also to unlock our frame of mind from that conclusion we were so fixated on getting to, letting us experiment with new methods. When we don't give ourselves a time to rest or to think about other things, we are only pushing the nail further in the wall, considering that there's only on way to do things, which most of the times is actually not true, and just busting your own head over a closed subject.

Now that we know how just working constantly without giving ourselves the proper rest can be in detriment to our well-being, we can begin to talk about the solutions to this intrigue, all of which have to do with setting boundaries, in which we can encounter:

1.- Take a couple days/month off:

Maybe the most obvious and most overlooked of all. Actually leaving a spot to just rest one day of your weekend or a larger period of the month lets you replenish your batteries and focus in what is really important for you in life. After these hiatus you will go back to your work with much more energy and wisdom to attack what is really bothering you about something. However, just taking a day alone is not enough, as you can be prone to distract yourself from meaningful matters and just head into pointless worries all through social media and news. That's why the next point makes Its entrance.

2.- Disconnect yourself from exterior sources of distraction

All would be better If we once in a while could just read a book and talk to others without fixating on a screen. You can see this for yourself If you actually take the time you dedicate to recovery to just hear an audiobook/podcast about meaningful matters and chat with your significant ones face to face. You'll usually feel a renewed sense of purpose and satisfaction that will make going back to fight the obstacles in your life much easier.

3.- Set boundaries to work

Akin to the point of taking periods in the week or the month to rest, setting boundaries in the form of a determined hour to finish all your labours can be really benefitial for you, a time in which you can head to rest and spend time with your family or significant ones, all while not worrying about what you left undone. In the next day you'll start again and work till the same hour. In this way you can gain the advantage of certainty and having a stable pace, which will make you less prone to problems such as inconsistencies and will make your brain know much more regularly at which moments of the day to put the most effort on.

I hope that this article could have made clear to you the importance of taking rests, how they can make pop up in your mind the actual response for a problem you might be facing and how It can prevent you from burning out and making what you love just another chore. Thank you for your support and good luck!
