At one time women were predominant in the matriarchal society. That is why educated women are seen in ancient Hindu Buddhist literature. Later, when the dominance of men in social life was established, women became inter-city dwellers. In modern times, women's rights and unique roles are recognized in the West. In undivided Bengal, the closed door of women's education and women's progress opens. But even then the obstacles in the way of formal education of Muslim women in Bangladesh have not been removed. Religious prejudice has become an obstacle there. Begum Raekeya played a leading role in overcoming that obstacle and bringing Muslim women into the field of education. Gradually Bengali Muslim women started stepping on the path of modern education. As a result, competition with men in the field of education created a new impetus in women's society. Now there is no village in Bangladesh where educated or semi-educated women cannot be found. Despite significant progress in the field of women's education, the number of educated women in our country is only 26 percent.
