There is no nation in the world without Bangladesh who gained there independence by a liberation war. Before 1971 our Bangladesh was familiar as East Pakistan, which was a part of West Pakistan. Most of the people of East Pakistan were bangali. The West Pakistan government didn’t worry about the people of East Pakistan. They always ruling on East Pakistan people and they slay money from East Pakistan to West Pakistan. They used the money for the development of West Pakistan. They always contempt the people of East Pakistan. The West Pakistan government ruling the East Pakistan for 25 years.
The leader of the East Pakistan Shek Mujibur Rahaman feel that there is no option without war to save the human rights of the common people. He founded a political party in 23 June 1949.Its name was “ Awami Muslim league”. But to found a nonsectarian norm politic they changed the name to “East Pakistan Awami league”. This “Awami leagues”lead the nation to gain independence. In 1970 the West Pakistan government arranged a election in West Pakistan. The “Awami league” was selected by huge number of votes and the “Muslim league” lost the election. But the West Pakistan government didn’t want to handover the power to the “Awami league”. They started to ignore to handover the East Pakistans political power. Shek Mujibur Rahaman understood the matter. 2nd and 3rd March 1971 he called strike because Eyahia Khan stopped the conference for sine die without informing him. He called a conversation at “Racecourse field”in 7 th March 1971. About 1 million people was present there. He directed all to achieve the independence. In 17 March 1971, Major general Ticca Khan and Raow Farman Ali planed to attack on the innocent bangali people. They named the attack “Operation search light”
They killed 25 thousand people in Dhaka at the night of 25 March 1971. Pakistani military arrested Shek Mujibur Rahaman and send him Karachi Central Jail at that night. Before he arrested, he announced the independence of our country and he called the nation to prevent the Pakistani military. In 26 March 1971 at noon one of “Awami league” leader published the news of the independence from Chattagram radio station. In 10 th April 1971 “Awami league” founded “Mujibnagar” government as the first government of independent Bangladesh. They took promise in 17 April 1971. Shek Mujibur was the president of the government. Tajuddin Ahamad was the prime minister. The government had 12 departments. The main Marshal was M.A.G Osmani. All classes of people took part on the liberation war. The liberation war had been going for 9 months, in 16 th December 1971 the Pakistan military surrendered and we gained independence. Without the help of our neighbor country India’s help we cannot achieve independence.
