Just two subspecies of Elephant are found in Africa. The African Bush Elephants and the African Forest Elephants.
The African Forest Elephants are slightly smaller compared to the African Bush Elephants but still one of the largest land animal in the world.
In comparison to the African Bush Elephants, the African Forest Elephants have rounder ears and more straight tusks than the African Bush Elephants.
The African Forest Elephants uses their tusks to their advantages to dig up roots, strips barks of tress and to protect themselves from threats.
Male African Forest Elephants do engage in fight over which will mate with the females and the males are a bit solitary.
Female African Bush Elephants always form groups which are known as herds and these groups are mostly formed around their offspring for protection.
The distinctive feature of an African Forest Elephant is the straight pairs of tusks which helps them when moving in thick forest and protection.
