Before I begin, I'm wishing Everyone here a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance

Christmas is coined out from tow words, "Christ" which means the anointed one, and "mas" which means celebration.

From this little explanation, we know who we are celebrating. To you, Christmas might just be another very big holiday where the world celebrates and share gifts, but to the Christians, that's followers of Jesus Christ, Christmas is a time where they celebrate the birth of their saviour who came to liberate them from sin and condemnation. Its a time for them, to spread the the peace and joy that Jesus Christ brings.

Jesus Christ claimed to be the son of God, and is believed by Christians around the world that He truly is the Son of God. Seeing as the bible, which is their holy book, records that He died and on the third day rose again, which represents the remission of sins.

In those days in Israel, lambs were killed as a sacrifice for sin, that's why Jesus said He was the lamb.

According to research by bible scholars, Jesus Christ wasn't actually born on the 25th of December. It is believed that He was born around the month of October. Since the actual date isn't known, Christians around the world decided to choose 25th of December to celebrate His birth.

Some sects in Christianity don't celebrate Christmas because they say that Christ wasn't born on that day.

So now we know why we celebrate and who we are celebrating. That's why the Christians don't use "Xmas" but "Christmas".

You don't need to be a Christian to celebrate Christmas. It's a time of sharing love and peace with family, friends and strangers.

I wish you all again a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year!!
