There is no need to frown when you see the word 'loss trap'. Looking at the rest of the title, what you think is exactly what these two words actually mean. But these traps are not for general purposes or just for fun. Rather, it is a cunning trap set by an important person, be it a politician, a businessman, a detective, or anyone else, to steal valuable information or money.

If you are aware of the current world situation, such an event should not be new to you. However, the events that are the subject of this writing today are little known. Without further ado, let's get to know some of the loss traps associated with espionage.

1

There will be talk of espionage but there will be no talk of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. That is why the story at the beginning of this article is about Mossad.

Mordechai Vanunu, an Israeli technician, worked at the country's Dimona nuclear facility. In 1986, he went to the British media and demanded that Israel have an atomic bomb!

The British media is in a dilemma after hearing such words. On the other hand, Vanunu's professional position did not give him a chance to say that the demand was completely unreasonable. At that time, the Sunday Times arranged for him to be hidden in a place in London, and they themselves came down to verify the truth of his claim.

But Vanunu's captive life did not look good at all. He met a beautiful woman while visiting the sights of London. The two planned to meet again. But not in London, but in Rome. The Sunday Times authorities did not insist on staying with him as it did not look good to prevent such a love affair. That was the biggest mistake.

Vanunu arrived in Rome with a man of the mind, but was soon captured by Mossad agents. He was forcibly drugged and taken by ship from Italy to Israel. He faces trial on charges of treason.

Vanunur was released in 2004 after spending a decade and a half in jail. However, there is no way to call it a complete release. He is spending his post-jail days in the midst of many restrictions. In between, there was an instruction not to talk to any foreigner and not to share your experience with anyone.

And yes, the woman who drove Vanunu crazy was in love with a Mossad agent named Cheryl Ben Tove, pseudonym Cindy. Cindy aka Cheryl had already made up her mind to get along with another man. She was married to an officer working for the Israeli Security Service.

Alas, if you understand!

There were similar allegations against Mata Hari. He was arrested by French authorities on charges of working with the Germans during World War I. They claimed that he was doing this by seducing famous French politicians and officials.

Mother Harry pleaded not guilty during the trial. But it didn't work. He was executed on 15 October 1917 by a firing squad.

After the war, however, French authorities acknowledged that they had little evidence to support the allegations against Harry. According to historians, the French authorities set an example by killing Mother Harry so that no woman would dare to go that route.

Let's go to London, Israel, Italy, France and go to the Soviet Union. Yevgeny Ivanov worked as a Soviet attachনে in London in the early 1960s. This handsome, personable officer was a very popular face in British diplomacy and social work. Ivanov was also a regular at the party of British osteopath and artist Stephen Ward.

Christine Keeler;

All the beautiful women of London used to come to those parties in the ward. At one such party, Ivanov was introduced to a woman named Christine Keeler. At one point, their identity turned into love. However, Keeler was also a lover of British MP and Secretary of State for War John Perfumo! Worse, he was working with the United States on a cruise missile in Germany.

Keeler's relationship with Profumo first came to the media in 1963. At the same time, the British media was busy portraying the issue as Ivanov's loss trap. Poor Profumo was forced to resign for lying to the House of Commons about the relationship. Despite receiving an apology from his wife, Bechara's career came to an end as a result of the loss trapping allegations.

John Profumo;

Ivanov later moved to Moscow. He had a lot of fun with the whole thing. He used to joke about it, "It's funny to think that one night, while lying in bed, Christine Keeler says to Perfumo, 'Well, darling, when will the cruise missiles arrive in Germany?'"

The stories of loss trapping that have been told for so long are all heterosexual. Now let's tell the story of a homosexual trap.

Jeremy Wolfenden worked in Moscow as a correspondent for the Daily Telegraph in the 1960s. He knew the Russian language on the one hand, and was gay on the other. And the KGB uses this opportunity. They use the barber of the Ministry of Foreign Trade to seduce Olfenden. Tells him that someone with a camera is already hidden in Wolfenden's closet to see if they can capture pictures of their intimate moments.

Jeremy Wolfenden;

When the pictures were taken as planned, the KGB started blackmailing Wolfenden with them. "Either spy on the Western community in Moscow or the pictures will go to your superiors!"

Wolfenden reported the matter directly to his country's embassy. In this he fell into great emptiness. Because, when he went to London, he got a call from the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). They offered him a double agent, meaning he would pretend to work for them in front of the KGB, but in reality he would smuggle KGB information to the SIS.

Wolfenden could not take so much pressure. He was slowly becoming addicted to alcohol. In the end, the detective decided to get out of this life. He married a British woman he met in Moscow and left for the Washington bureau of the Daily Telegraph.

But the intelligence agency did not want to leave him behind. In 1975, he met his former SIS handler at a party at the British Embassy. He was again used for espionage against his will. This time he could not take this pressure anymore. Always depressed. Finally, on December 26 of that year, at the age of 31, he fell in the bathroom and died of a head injury. However, according to his friends, Olfenden's body actually died that day. The KGB and SIS had killed him mentally even earlier.

How was the detective who killed Olfenden? Honestly, he could not do anything as a double agent. Colleagues did not share much information with him, as they had been warned in advance that he was in contact with the KGB. The Soviets, meanwhile, did not share much with him. Occasionally, a life was lost at a young age after falling into the trap of this loss trapping.

I will end with the story of another journalist. Unlike Wolfenden, however, he did not fall into the trap, but escaped by using his sixth sense.

John Simpson, the popular editor of the BBC's World Affairs Department. Attempts were made to trap him in the early eighties by the Czechoslovak intelligence service.

Simpson divorced shortly before that time. As a result, he was mentally disturbed. In the meantime, he hurriedly began to receive romantic and comforting letters from a Czechoslovak woman named Anna. The two were introduced through an international conference. Anna was working as a hotel receptionist at the hotel where she was staying to cover the conference. She was very beautiful to look at.

John Simpson;

As the days went by, the number of letters coming to Simpson also increased. At one point, even Anna's picture came up, where she would write, "Sorry, I couldn't make the pictures so beautiful I made them at home."

The issue did not go down well with Simpson. His suspicions were further strengthened when he saw the body of the photographer in a particular picture. He told the BBC authorities about the matter. They suggested contacting MI-Five.

In time, an officer from MI-Five came to see Simpson. He praised Simpson's intelligence. Because, if he had actually gone to spend his intimate time with her in a Hungarian hotel according to Anna's advice, he might have had to do the same for Olfenden!

Here is how to put an end to loss trapping with these five incidents. Keep yourself healthy in the days of the novel coronavirus, give others a chance to stay healthy too.
