Hello Friends,

Today, along with a short story, I would be showcasing an art piece which i made earlier today with my black pen on white paper surface. It's a portrait of a young girl in pain and can't speak because her mouth is being covered.

No doubt, this is the case of so many young girls and ladies involved in rape. Some are being rapped by holder relatives and being threatened not to talk. The art piece is a pictorial description of such rape victims.

Let's take a look at reasons why young ladies are often sexually harassed. This happens mainly in African countries. Young ladies who, sometimes are of age and some who aren't, being sexually abused. The terrible incident is as a result of nothing but lack of sexual control by opposite sex. After this, the young victim is sometimes compelled or threatened not to inform anyone about it.

This reminds me of the story of a young girl, Alor. She was the only child of her busy single mother, who works round the clock. Alor was only sixteen (16) years old when she was sexually abused and threatened to be killed by her uncle if anyone heard about it. Alor lived a peaceful life, reaching school in her mother's car, on her way to work at 7:30am and getting home by school bus at 4pm in the evening. Alor spends her time studying before her mum's arrival at late night. Sometimes she meets her after she had dinner and trying to stay up with some teen movies or novel. But sometimes she would have gone to bed before her arrival. This was the routine till Coloi, her mum's youngest brother came visiting with a view to spending a few days before furthering his journey to school, where he was supposed to resume to.

"Hello Alor, my baby girl" just as she opens the door in. "Oh! Uncle you are here?" She sounded baffled. "Yes, Big sis didn't tell you I was coming?" He moves closer with his arms opened for a big hug. "She... She... She did, sorry I forgot" she sinks into his arm with her left shoulder, wondering why she had covered up for mother again, as she would always do in school. "Yes, mum tried calling you several times when I told her. Anyway, I would remind her to call again tonight if the network would be friendly enough" has been her anthem to teachers' question on every situation. Mr. Joelle will often end the last clause with her "...if the network would be friendly enough, Alor you're so unprofessional in lying" he would add. But somehow, Alor still gets away with it.

Alor tried to keep her distance with him since she never trusted him like the whole family do. Also, his use of nasty words and naughty languages were other good reasons. The harassment started in the kitchen while they both find something to prepare before mummy's arrival at late night. Subsequently, Coloi often tries to barge into her room without knocking most times. "Uncle Coloi I have always told you to knock" she tries to hide her often angry mood to such situations. "When did I start knocking in my little niece's room. "But..." She hangs it and just breath in and out heavily, with a nod to bother sides.

The incident repeated itself and Alor didn't know how to approach mother with it, neither did she know how to ask Uncle Coloi when he is resuming school. After all, he is the trusted one. Her privacy & peace are priorities to her. She would say to every questions of your two best friends, hobbies, valuables, families "My PP are my Ps, I don't P with them." No doubt, everyone could interpret it as "My Peace and Privacy are my Priorities, I don't Play with them." Her life was so until Uncle Coloi came in, stole her peace, made her privacy her pain and threatened to make suicide her priority if she opens up to anyone.

The portrait was drawn in not less than 30 minutes with a black pen on a white paper.

Let's take a look at the drawing process:
