14th April is the first day of Boishakh.This day is the day of Bengali New Year. This day is very significant.This day has been celebrated with much pomp and circumstance for a long time. Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians alike celebrate this day with joy. On this day school, college, office-court, bank-insurance, shopping mall are all closed.This festival is celebrated through Mars procession, Pantabhat, Hilsa, Mela etc. The first Baishakh has been celebrated since the reign of the Mughal Empire. The traditional word for this day is "Happy New Year".People of all walks of life express solidarity on this day and wish all the best. On this day, fairs are held in one area of town and village for 3 days.This day is a day of joy for all, a day of celebration. On this day halakhata is celebrated in the village.And it is sweetened by the moneylenders.

Pahela Baishakh is related with our tradition. It's also our traditional festival. Every year we celebrate it with our family members, friends and also relatives.
