BSTI banned 18 brands of products

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), the body that formulates and regulates the quality of products, has banned 18 brands of products. These products have been banned as they are below the standard of Bangladesh (BDS) and are being tested in the BSTI laboratory. At the same time, the concerned organizations have been given show cause notice.

This information has been given in a press release sent from BSTI.

Subsequently, the manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers have been instructed to refrain from selling and distributing commercial advertisements and to withdraw the goods from the market without re-approval.

In the press release, the companies, products and brands of low quality products collected through surveillance on the occasion of Ramadan have been mentioned: they are AP-1 brand ghee of Kalpana Commodities Company of Chittagong, Suji of anchor brand of Chittagong Flower Mills, Al Amin Bakery and Confectioner of Jessore. Lozenge, Mr. Dhaka. Mr. Baker and Pastry Shop. Baker's Biscuits, Faridpur's Safe Food Industries' Saba Brand Chips (Potato), Cox's Bazar's Riyadh Salt Industries Limited's Banga Brand Iodized Salt, Rajshahi Confectionery Store's RM Brand Ghee, Bogra's Genius Sef. Suma of Seema Flower Mills Ltd. of Bogra, Butter Oil and Ghee of Raja brand of GM Food Products of Gazipur, Butter of Nurjahan brand of Shah International Food Products of Gazipur, Mother Dairy of Shariatpur. Shamsernagar Shahi brand ghee and loose soybean oil in a nameless drum.
