As I look back on my journey at Southern Leyte State University, where I pursued my Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude. My path to graduation was filled with both challenges and triumphs, but it was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) scholarship. Growing up, I always dreamed of working in the tourism industry, exploring the beauty of the world, and sharing it with others. However, financial constraints often made that dream seem far out of reach. My family did what they could, but the costs of education and living expenses were daunting. That’s when the TES scholarship came into my life, and everything changed.

The scholarship allowed me to focus entirely on my studies, without the constant worry of where to find the resources I needed. It wasn’t just financial support; it was a lifeline that brought me closer to my goals. I could afford the materials, travel for internships, and even focus more on my academics and extracurricular activities.

At Southern Leyte State University, I received quality education from inspiring mentors and engaged in hands-on experiences that honed my skills in tourism management. One of the highlights of my academic journey was my internship with Jeju Air, which gave me invaluable insights into the aviation side of tourism. I learned the ropes of customer service, operations, and management—all while growing as an individual.

But the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Balancing academic requirements, internship demands, and personal growth was no easy feat. There were sleepless nights and moments of self-doubt. Yet, every time I felt overwhelmed, I reminded myself of how far I had come and how the support of the TES scholarship was making my dreams possible. This kept me going.

Today, I stand proud as a graduate, ready to take on the world of tourism. My education not only equipped me with the technical skills I need to succeed but also with the resilience and determination to keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles. I am eternally grateful to Southern Leyte State University for being my second home and to the TES program for providing me with the support that made all the difference. To future scholars and students like me: Never stop chasing your dreams. The path may not be easy, but with the right support, hard work, and a heart full of passion, anything is possible.
