Good morning guys, today is 20-10-2021. I had prepared another article for today but I remembered today is a very significant day in the history of my country, Nigeria, so stay with me.
Today makes it a year since the government of Nigeria came against the youths that protested at lekki, in Lagos state. The reason for the protest was to end police brutality and bad governance. But the government replied the youths by sending the armed forces to kill the protesters at night. I know we're all familiar with the story.
Our national anthem is been sung every time we hold national program meanwhile the leaders of the nation do the exact opposite of what is the content of the national anthem.
I'll be writing on that national anthem this morning, so stay with me.
ARISE, O COMPATRIOTS, NIGERIA'S CALL OBEY
Nigeria is calling for compatriots to arise from their slumber, now who is a compatriots? A compatriot is a citizen of Nigeria. The call is for us to arise and take up the responsibility of changing our country. It starts from yourself, to your home, to your neighborhood, then to your local government area, then your state, and finally the country. Let the the change begin with YOU. The change has begun. It started when the youth started the protest against bad governance this day, last year. The country won't change by you running to another country.
TO SERVE OUR FATHERLAND
The call is to serve our fatherland which Nigeria. Unfortunately, the leaders we have now have no interest in serving instead they're interested in amassing the riches of the country to themselves. They're less concerned about the welfare of the citizens. They're are not interested in building infrastructures that'll be increase the standard of living of the people. But a new breed is rising up to effect a change in Nigeria no matter the hindrance, there's no going back because the blood of those shed on the 20th of October, 2020 will not be in vain.

With love for the citizens and generations unborn, you'll be motivated to serve well so that the country will move forward. With faith in God, we are sure that the country will move forward. With the strength of the citizens, people are motivated to support tye government, when the government puts the people into consideration when taking decisions.
THE LABOUR OF OUR HEROES PAST
The labours, sweat, struggles of all our heroes past, right from those who fought for the independence of Nigeria from colonization to those who fought to get Nigeria out of the military government and the youths who were murdered this day last, by the said democratic government because they demanded for good governance and an end to police brutality.
SHALL NEVER BE IN VAIN
Shall here is to mean that can never be in vain, because the soil of Nigeria has received the blood of its precious citizens unjustly. And these blood will not stop crying until justice is served and the cause for which the blood was shed is fulfilled.
TO SERVE WITH HEART AND MIGHT
If only the government will sit to understand this statement, they'll not be fighting for government positions, there will be no need for rigging of elections. But because they're so much interested in the riches to be acquired unjustly because of the position of power they hold, they don't even mind to shed the blood of the citizens they're supposed to serve just to get to the position. They can do anything to get the position. But the destiny of Nigeria is changing because a new breed has risen and will take over the government of Nigeria and righteousness will once again rule in Nigeria.
ONE NATION BOUND IN FREEDOM, PEACE AND UNITY
To have a broom, you need to bind it with a rope to ensure it never scatters, because if it scatters, there's possibility that you don't gather every stick together. Some might get missing, some broken.
Freedom, peace and unity is the rope that can be used to bring Nigeria as one. Because Nigeria is just a nation, it is a nation with many nations in it, we have so many tribes and religions that are enough to stand independently as a countries.
The citizens must be free to speak out, which the present government has failed to allow the citizens to do, instead they came up with a malicious law against hate speech that bans citizens from complaining about the government.
When citizens are free, there'll surely be peace because we can relate with ourselves plainly.
And in unity. This does not necessarily mean we'll all become the same. No, the unity here is that we all have a common goal which is to serve our fatherland with all our heart, might and strength.
CONCLUSIONS:
I know that Nigeria will be great again, this generation will see the new Nigeria. And once again, Nigeria will be a place where people will want to live.
I'll continue with the second stanza of the national anthem tomorrow.
