The struggle of America for freedom from the British coloniallists started when fifty six ken signed the Declaration of Independence.
Their decision resulted in great and unspeakable sufferings for both themselves and their families.
Out of the fifty six men that signed the Declaration of Independence, five of them were captured and tortured by the British before they finally died.
The homes of twelve out of the fifty six were scattered ad burnt down.
Some of them lost their sons in the revolutionary army, while others had their sons captured.
Nine out the fifty six men fought and died because of the wounds and hardships they faced by reason of the war.
From this story, we can see that the battle for freedom is always a battle that is not easy.
Another example of quest for freedom was when Moses and Aaron was sent to confront Pharaoh in order for him to free the Isrealites from his bondage and serve God as a free nation.
Pharaoh resisted the instruction and even increased the workload on the Isrealites hereby worsening their situation and increasing their pain and suffering under his rule.
Freedom most times is not given on a platter of gold, it is not given easily. It is always a result of intense doggedness, struggle and sometimes war.
Every man wants to live in liberty and freedom. No body likes to be under the control of another person.
Every one likes to make decisions without consulting another person.
The quest for freedom most starts with teenagers. They like to just make decisions without the interference of their parents without realizing that they sometimes cannot make the best decisions for their lives. This sometimes causes clash between them and their parents. So most times, they always wish for the adult life to come so fast so they'll leave the house foe their parents.
Unknown to them is that the adult life is another ball game filled with it's own tussles and problems.
Freedom does not come cheap, that's why when you research the independence of most nations, you would find out that many nations got their independence after series of tussles and wars which had great effect on the contry and the citizens.
An unsuccessful quest for freedom was the one that occured in Nigeria.
The quest led to war called the Nigerian civil war. The war lasted for three years(between 1967 and 1970). This war led to the deaths of so many children and adults. It is an unfortunate and unforgettable experience in the history of Nigeria because of the damage that it caused.
Every human born is under the bondage of sin, which automatically causes pain. Every man is subject to sin, he doesn't have the the power to overcome sin, no matter how hard he tries to get free. Even with the presence of laws, man still remains a slave to sin.
God in His love and sovereignty sent His son to help us gain freedom. The way He got this freedom was by death on the cross of Calvary. When He died, He resurrected on the third day, hereby affirming our victory over sin.
For you to access this victory, you just need to:
Acknowledge that you're under the bondage of sin
Believe that Jesus is the son of God and that He died and resurrected on the third day
Confess Him as Lord over your life.
Simple as that, you've gained your freedom from sin, and you have the power to overcome sin.
