REVV — the token for motorsports blockchain games
The REVV token is the ERC20 utility token that serves as the primary currency in motorsport blockchain games by Animoca Brands. REVV is designed to enable true digital ownership of game assets, giving players freedom and control over in-game content. Supporting games include F1® Delta Time, an upcoming blockchain game based on MotoGP™.
Having REVV as the utility token serving multiple games will offer various benefits to players, and will encourage exploration of the other games that are part of this connected ecosystem. Additionally, in-game content and REVV tokens have the potential to increase in value as the REVV token ecosystem expands through the growth of its connected games.
Whereas REVV is a fungible token, the game content within the Motorsport Games is primarily provided in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are a special type of cryptographic token representing pieces of digital content that are unique. For example, in F1® Delta Time most critical game content consists of NFTs, including Cars, Drivers, and even Tracks.
The TOWER experiment
TOWER is the new fungible crypto token introduced by Animoca Brands, and is the native token for the successful mobile tower defense games: Crazy Kings (IOS) and Crazy Defense Heroes (IOS and Android), collectively known as the Crazy Kings franchise.
Animoca Brands is a pioneer in the blockchain gaming field and contributed greatly by bringing regular gamers into blockchain games. The Tower experiment is a perfect example of their innovative mindset — redesigning an existing F2P game economy for blockchain, and introduces a play-to-farm model, rewarding its player base and introducing it to blockchain utility.
Combining blockchain and F2P gaming in-game economics is challenging. Blockchain games usually require fairly significant payment that is antithetical to F2P, and F2P games are inflationary by design: an increase in player base and activity lead to a decrease in the scarcity and value of in-game assets, due to for example — more in-game drops and more missions being cleared resulting in rewards.
The inflationary model of F2P gaming is intentional because the generation of assets based on player activity rewards and encourages player engagement, provides a level playing field in which all participants have a fair chance, creates opportunities for companies for monetization and so on.
Blockchain games on the other hand are able to limit this inflation because the supply of in-game assets can be predefined and controlled. For example, Animoca Brands’ game: F1 Delta Time uses the REVV ERC20 token as currency, which has a predefined supply and disclosed schedule specifying how many tokens will be issued over time.
In conclusion, F2P gaming and blockchain gaming approach to virtual economies is fundamentally different. F2P games are designed to be inflationary in order to generate revenue at the expense of a game’s virtual assets and their scarcity; whereas blockchain games typically seek to generate value for their virtual assets and their scarcity.
TOWER utility
Governance: owners of the tokens will be able to fully participate in the governance of the Crazy Kings franchise, including submitting proposals for the games’ direction and voting on those proposals; these are important steps in giving players a true and effective voice in the roadmap of the game.
Crypto economy: owners of the tokens will be able to trade them, thus buying and selling the right to influence the development of the game franchise, and even participate in distributed finance (DeFi) initiatives such as staking (details to be determined).
NFTs: assets in Crazy Kings and Crazy Defense Heroes are represented by game cards, which have different power, value, and rarity. Players will use the token to purchase collectible NFTs that correspond to in-game items; the NFTs will have certain functionalities in the existing games and in the new game.
NFT minting: owners of the token will be able to mint NFTs that correspond to in-game cards. Players will be able to trade the NFTs.
Currency: the token will be accepted as currency within a PC based blockchain native game that will be the newest addition to the Crazy Kings franchise.
Tournament entry fees: tournaments are special events that will challenge the skill, strategy, and game assets of players.
Tournament prizes: tokens will be distributed as prizes to the victors of competitive multiplayer tournaments, which is a significant step toward full-fledged play-to-earn mechanics.
